Metallica Fans Riot
January 29, 2010 by Nikki Katz
A Metallica concert in Chili turned ugly this week (January 27th) as fans rioted at the venue. During the riots a policeman was injured and 120 people were arrested.
Police said that the arrests took place because hundreds of fans without tickets rushed the venue and tried to force their way in. The detainees were arrested for a variety of counts – including disorderly conduct, drug possession and drinking in public, police said.
This isn’t a great week for news regarding Metallica. News came out earlier this week that the remains of a girl who had gone missing from their October concert were found (At the time Metallica asked fans for support in finding her). Morgan Harrington, a 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who disappeared from a Metallica concert, was discovered in a remote hayfield just 10 miles south of where she was last seen.

Vintage Led Zeppelin: Kashmir
January 27, 2010 by Nikki Katz
Led Zeppelin is considered one of the first heavy metal bands, along with Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Do you consider them heavy metal? Check out one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs: Kashmir.
With their first album not yet released, Led Zeppelin made their live debut at the University of Surrey, Guildford on 15 October 1968.. The album was then released on 12 January 1969, during their first US tour. The album’s blend of blues, folk and eastern influences with distorted amplification made it one of the pivotal records in the creation of heavy metal music!
Scorpions Breaking Up After Next Album
January 25, 2010 by Nikki Katz
The Scorpions have decided to break up after the release of their next album (Sting in the Tail) and three year tour, according to their official website:

“It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you – whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years
We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!”
The Scorpions formed in Hanover, Germany in 1965 and have sold over 100 million albums. Their song “Wind of Change” has become an anthem for the fall of the Iron Curtain.

Ozzy Osbourne New Book and New Tour!
January 12, 2010 by Nikki Katz
Ozzy Osbourne is reportedly planning to go on an 18-month tour in support of his new album, “Soul Sucka”.
The album is Ozzy’s first since 2007’s “Black Rain”, and is slated to hit the music world in June. This record will be the first to feature Ozzy’s new guitarist, Greek native Gus G., who replaced longtime axeman Zakk Wylde in Ozzy’s band last year.
Ozzy revealed to The Sun, “Someone recently asked me what I hoped to be doing in ten years — I just hope I’m still alive, you know? I’m 61 now and you get to the age where your friends start dying.
“I don’t know where time goes. Sharon [Ozzy's wife/manager] and I have been married nearly 30 years. We hardly row any more because we’re too knackered.
“The good thing about being in entertainment is you don’t have to retire just because you reach a certain age. Life doesn’t end when you get to 65. I’m just going to keep fucking going, you know?”
In other news, Ozzy has a new book coming out! I AM OZZY is a story told in Ozzy’s hilarious voice, following him through his legendary music days. In the end it was love that saved him: the love of his wife Sharon and kids Aimee, Kelly, and Jack.
