The Month To Come…

October 31, 2007 by Scott

meblognov.bmpSo we had a great month here at Metal Martyr as far as growth goes. We have reached more new readers and hopefully gained some returning fans. November I’m going to start doing themes every week, sorta like I did the Classic Metal Video week. I thought that went pretty well.

I’m going to try to cover more black metal for the Black Metal fans. I don’t know all that much about Black Metal but I’ll do my best. I’m also going to make some mixed metal CD’s and print some cool Metal Martyr labels for them and give some away.

I’m going up to Richmond, VA on the 16th to check out Absolute Vengeance. If you remember, I did a feature on them. They are a local band from VA that I think is great. I’ll try to pick up some merchandise if it’s available and see about throwing it in the big prize pack for December.

Oh…thats right. I didn’t mention it yet but I’m going to have a big prize pack for a contest in December. This will have a bunch of cd’s, a t-shirt or two and some stickers. I still have not quite figured out what else I may put in there but I think the winner will be happy with it. This contest…yeah, yeah, as usual will only be open to US and Canadian residents.

Anyway, enough of My B.S. Stick around and see whats in store for November.

A Metal Sound Track to Halloween

October 30, 2007 by Scott

snelly-jack-o-lantern-jpeg.jpgI figured I would put together a list of some great metal songs to be a so called sound track to Halloween. If I missed something that you feel would be a good addition, by all means add it in the comments section. These are just a few songs that I think contrast well with the “Holiday”. Check it out.

Iron Maiden: Number Of The Beast. (c’mon, it’s a given)
Misfits: Halloween (1 of course)
White Zombie: I’m Your Boogyman
Dimmu Borgir: Twisted Sister “Burn In Hell” cover
Black Sabbath: Children Of The Grave
Death: Zombie Ritual
Entombed: Hallow man
Gwar: Sick of You
Megadeth: Good Morning/Black Friday
Mercyful Fate: Curse Of The Pharoahs
Slayer :Black Sabbath Hand Of Doom cover

Well These are just a few that I can think of. I’m sure there are a lot more out there you could add to this list. It’s just something I threw together real quick.

Guitar Hero 3 Review

October 30, 2007 by Scott

gh3demo.JPGWell, it came out Sunday but I was extremely busy and I didn’t make it to Gamestop in time to pick it up. So yesterday I picked it up and let me tell you…Guitar Hero 3 rocks! With all new songs and battle mode it makes things interesting.

What I don’t like about it is it’s slow load and save time. I have a PS2 so I can’t say its the same for every platform. I unlocked all the songs for quickplay by using a cheat code and prepare yourself for a challenge. Even on medium, some of the songs and solos are much more challenging then the last. The solo on Metallica’s One is crazy and is going to take some practice to get it down. Good luck with Reign In Blood, its a tough one too, but fun to play. Read more

10 CD’s to Have On A Deserted Island

October 29, 2007 by Scott

dtp_skullisland_800.jpgImagine that you somehow get stranded on a deserted island, sorta like that TV show Lost…except without polar bears, crazy people and shit. So you’restranded there and you just happen to have 10 cd’s there to listen to. If you could have your pick of ten cd’s to have with you, loaded on your IPod, whatever, what would they be? This was a tough choice but here is mine.

1. Megadeth: Peace Sells
2. Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here
3. Black Sabbath: Paranoid
4. Danzig: III How The Gods Kill
5. The Misfits: Collection 1
6. Pantera: Vulgar Display Of Power
7. Lamb Of God: Ashes Of The Wake
8. Iron Maiden: Number Of The Beast
9. Marvin Gaye Collection (2003)
10. Led Zeppelin: 4

I mixed it up a bit because I wouldn’t want just metal to listen to, I’d go crazy. Besides, you need a little Marvin Gaye cause you never know if there is going to be some one else stranded with you and no one sets the mood like Marvin.
