Airbourne…Just Another Rockband, No Big Deal.
so for awhile I have been seeing Airbourne on Roadrunner records web page…so I got curious and downloaded a song. I hate to judge the band on one song but I’m not impressed at all. Is Angus Young the producer of their records cause that’s what I hear.
It’s like AC/DC meats Jet…simple rock…but yet so simple that I’m not impressed. I’m sure there are people flipping out over this stuff like it’s the best friggin thing since sliced cheese but I feel like I have just wasted 3 minutes and 44 seconds of my life that I will never get back. What ever…

Download This! Yakuza: Egocide Mp3
November 30, 2007 by Scott
You saw the review. If you didn’t then check it out if you like. This is my favorite song off of Yakuza’s newest release Transmutations. This song starts off kinda cool, calm and collective. Jazzy, with the sax and everything and just when your about to fall asleep in a state of Zen, it gives kick into over drive with a shot of nitrous oxide . Like I said in the review, this band is not for everyone so don’t come bitchin’ to me if you don’t like it. It’s almost 8 minutes long. Enjoy it courtesy of Prosthetic Records.
Guest Post From The Good Musician
November 30, 2007 by Scott
As you all know, once in awhile I feature a guest post. This months guest is Arjun Muralidharan. He gives us his outlook on how to become a metal musician. In my opinion a real Metal musician isn’t” Made” but is born with it in his/her blood even if it’s not the first music genre they start enjoying. While I agree with most of this article, I also must disagree with some of it. As always feel free to leave your opinion, but be mature about it.

Black Tide’s Shockwave EP Review
November 30, 2007 by Scott
If you have been following along, you have seen me post press releases for Black Tide, the young thrash metal band out of Florida that has been touring with Avenged Sevenfold (you know how I feel about A7X) and did some time on Ozzfest.
Yesterday I received the 2 song ep. While I feel this band has a lot of potential I do have just one complaint, but I’ll get to that in a second. If you’ve watched the video you can see that they are obviously very young and extremely talented and have that sound of an 80’s thrash band. Instrumentally and vocally they kick ass. What I don’t like from what I have heard are the lyrics. With the songs full of “I am’s” and “We are’s” it all seems kinda…immature. When I say immature, I don’t mean immature as in juvenile and childish. I mean it sounds like I suppose it should, young, if you know what I mean. These guys are young and their lyric development needs some work, perhaps some help from a good producer or a veteran (metal) song writer.
Other than the lyrics, they have a great metal sound and I think if managed well, Black Tide could go a long way.

End Of November Update
November 29, 2007 by Scott
Wow this month has gone by quick! It’s been a good ride this month. I have had some great opportunities to review some great CD’s and bands and will have some good press releases and updates in the months to come and hopefully I can work some special things into the mix.
Tomorrow is the big day! The Megadeth Warchest Giveaway Day is finally here and I can’t wait to do the drawing and announce the winner. If you haven’t already enter go here and do so! I will be announcing the winner at 9pm US eastern standard time November 30th!
December is coming and with that comes the end of year prize pack. I’ve got a bunch of cd’s in it right now and I’m trying to add what I can and see what else I can throw in there.
The Metal Martyr sound track was kinda cool, didn’t get rid of as many as I thought I would and I have not heard back from the ones I sent one to except for one person…so what the hell does that mean?
Free Download Friday started last week and I’m trying to get something in the works right now…but I’m waiting on word from the top to see if it’s possible…we’ll see and I’ll break the news as soon as I know something.

Yakuza: Transmutations
November 27, 2007 by Scott
Yakuza is not for everybody. Let’s start with that. Not traditional metal, Yakuza bring their own form and function from the windy city of Chicago. Let me elaborate…
Take a little bit of Mushroomhead, add some Ziggy Stardust, a pinch of jazz and a whole can of Whoop-ass and you have Yakuza. A saxophone, bass clarinet, a moog and a sakuhachi in a metal band. WTF is a moog and sakuhachi…google it!
I told you they were different…but wait. Different in a good way. Every song on Transmutations can go from moderate to stampede in the drop of a dime. You can be relaxing to the beat one second and putting your fist through a wall the next! It’s simply amazing! Read more
