The Winner Of The Lamb Of God DVD(s) Are…
July 31, 2008 by Scott
Hell Yeah! The contest is over and it’s time to announce the Lamb Of God Walk With Me In Hell DVD contest winner. I had three people that seemed to really want it and I was quite impressed with the response I got from it. Sometimes you get “lurkers” who visit, find out about a contest, sometimes they win and you never hear from them again. I’m glad that’s not the case here. This time I have three winners. That’s right. I decided to give away 3 DVDS instead of 1 because I like to see people win that I feel deserve to win and have stuck around here. So the winners are…
Hackneyed Video ‘Gut Candy’
From The Orchard Newsletter: The Bavarian bros of Hackneyed range in age from 14 to 18. They’re young. Really, really young. But that doesn’t stop ‘em from offering up an amazingly mature debut in the form of Death Prevails, a breath of furiously fresh air in an age of trite and tired death metal clichés Though their name may suggest otherwise, these young men aren’t formula followers. Rather, they’re building upon a tried and true expression of brutality and wowing folks like Hypocrisy and Pain’s Peter Tagtgren in the process. “If a band of this young age already sounds this stunning,” Tagtgren recently said, “I’m really excited what they’ll sound like in about 2 years!” So are we.
Check out the video for Gut Candy.

Download Trivium’s New Single Kirisute Gomen TODAY ONLY
I screwed up last night when I posted this so I figured I would update it and give a word or two. I’ll be posting a few updates tonight, mostly press releases. I have a lot of stuff to do to get ready for our trip tomorrow. I don’t know how late I will get back from Mayhem Fest. Slipknot goes on around 10pm so I figure I won’t get in until midnight at the latest. That’s If I don’t get lost trying to get back to the hotel, so there probably won’t be any updates tomorrow.
Anyway, if you still want to download the new Trivium single Kirisute Gomen from their upcoming Shogun album, the time is NOW. It will only be available until midnight tonight so get it free while you can. I haven’t heard it yet but if you don;t like it at least you got it for free. The link is below.

Early Man Live In Raleigh 7/29
The End Records PR set me up to go check out Brooklyn NY based thrashers ‘Early Man’. Before I get to them let me talk about the other opening acts. The doors opened at 8 and the first band didn’t go on until 9pm. When there are 4 bands on the bill the least you can do is start earlier than 9pm on a Tuesday.
The Scrap Metal Report 7/30
July 30, 2008 by Scott
Time for another quick Scrap Metal Report. I went to see the Brooklyn, NY based band Early man last night so I’m kind of tired after getting home at 1 am and getting up for work at 6am. You’ll see the results of that here in a bit. Let’s get started so maybe IO can get a good night’s sleep. Sleep? Who needs that, right? I do. It’s going to be a long day Friday at Mayhem Fest and If I don’t catch up a little tonight I’ll be draggin’ ass in Virgina Beach.
There is a new Ozzy impersonator on the TV show America’s Got Talent. It was such a convincing resemblance that Sharon Osbourne wanted him to pull down his pants so she could make sure it wasn’t really Ozzy, but then she remembered that she was wearing Ozzy pants so it could not have been him.
The Dio-era Black Sabbath: Rules Of Hell box set has sold just over 2600 copies in it’s first week. Not too shabby.

New Details On Slipknot All Hope Is Gone cd/dvd
July 29, 2008 by Scott
The new Slipknot release All Hope Is Gone is going to have a cd/dvd special edition pack. The dvd will contain “The Making Of All Hope Is Gone” and will be directed by once again Shawn “Clown” Crahan. So what can you expect the dvd to be like. I’m going to take a guess and say you’ll see some flies, maybe some road kill, a lot of in and out focusing, some black and white shots, some abstract scenes of irrelevant shit and maybe if we’re lucky a few shots of the band actually making the record.
I get tired of seeing that crap in the videos and stuff. Inside The 9 really went over the edge with it and turned an otherwise potentially cool video into a long and drawn out dog turd. Did anyone see the recent interview with him when they were showing the premiere for Psychosocial video and he says something to the sort of “Our fans are called maggots…and what do maggots turn into? Flies”…and that was the end of it. It was like he started a cool analogy and went absolutely nowhere with it. I don’t know what the hell this dudes talking about half the time in interviews.
Gas Prices Causing Tour Cancelation Everywhere
July 29, 2008 by Scott
Dallas Coyle of God Forbid(another contributor at Metalsucks) mentioned this awhile back when he talked about Light This City disbanding. Gas prices, even though they are dropping a tiny bit are effecting the large tours with multiple bands on the bill. I was going to write something up on this last week because I see a lot of bands dropping off of tour claiming financial hardships. I never got around to it and Vince Neilstein over at the Metal Sucks Mansion beat me to it. I’m not going to try to be an ass and write my own about it, but below is a link to his story on it with a funny picture to go along. Don’t be surprised if your favorite band is the next to drop off of a tour.
DALLAS WAS RIGHT: SUMMER TOURS ARE BEING CANCELED WILLY NILLY
