Metal Martyr Halloween Horror Picks

October 31, 2008 by Scott

world devil_nc Some of the best horror movies are the ones that keep you in the dark through most of the movie. The ones where the monster or villain isn’t revealed right away and that makes it more scary. Some of these that I picked are typical movies that make almost everyone list simply because they are classics. They may not be the biggest budget movies and maybe that’s why they were so good. The camera angles and lighting added to the mystery and suspense and some were just scary. Either way, they made for good entertainment year round and especially on Halloween. These are in no particular order…

Scrap Metal Report: Halloween Edition

October 31, 2008 by Scott

The Scrap Metal Report

It’s the end of the month and perhaps the coolest holiday of the year. What other time can you dress up like a fool and get away with it…besides in Black Metal? I thought about dressing up like Dimebag Darrell this year but it’s been far too cold out to where shorts and I couldn’t find a cool BLS leather vest (or something similar). So I’ll just have to take the kids and go out there as the scariest, most vile and ugly thing in the world…myself! I’ve missed a few things in the past few days that hold some significant news value, so seeing how slow this day is starting out I thought I would just consolidate.

Mastodon have revealed their upcoming album title as “Crack The Sky“. You can check out the track list here. No sneak peak listen leaks have been sourced out yet, but I’m sure they’ll post something on myspace or elsewhere in the next few months.

Cattle Decapitation released some details on their upcoming album “The Harvest FloorBravewords.com has all the details on that.

Bolt Thrower will play first U.S. Show in 14 years. I don’t know about you guys, but I could go another 14.

Black Tide Launch "Warriors Of Time" Animated Series

October 30, 2008 by Scott

Black Tide has just launched their Warriors of Time Animation series. The six part series is explained best by the band themselves, “Our Hero, known as The Bastard, is a living embodiment of metal music. We pit him against a robotic legion whose influence spans all of time and space. The song speaks to the urge in everyone to rage and rock out against all outside expectations. It is a call to arms against a mundane existence, and the Bastard is always there to answer in force, slaughtering the robot conformist authority for the sake of youth, rebellion, and the undying spirit of true metal.” Check  out the first episode below.

I Can’t Figure Out Which One Is Suppose To Look Like A Corpse.

October 30, 2008 by Scott

Nicholas Cage and his son Weston Capolla Cage stop for a photo during Weston’s performance with his band Eyes of Noctum’s performance in West Hollywood at the Whisky-A-Go-Go. Seriously though, I don’t know who looks more dead, Nicholas or his son. Has anyone heard his band?

Slayer Psychopathy Red Song Demo

October 29, 2008 by Scott

Slayer have been working in the studio before heading out on the Unholy Alliance Tour III last monday in Europe with Mastodon, Trivium and Amon Amarth. The new demo track Pychopathy Red is NOT cd quality, obviously but should be on their forthcoming release in 2009. Sounds pretty cool so far and will probably sound awesome once it’s totally cleaned up and mastered. (Alright, let’s be honest. Once it really kicks in it sounds like a lot of other Slayer songs.) Jeff Hannemen wrote the song and it’s said to be about a notorious Russian serial killer named Andrei Chikatilo, The Butcher Of Rostov. Read the wikipedia story on him. It’s pretty interesting.

Seneca Signs To Lifeforce Records

October 29, 2008 by Scott

Local NC band Seneca finally get’s their break with a contract from Lifeforce Records. Seneca released this statement on their Myspace page:

Yes, we did sign a deal with Lifeforce Records and we are very excited to have their support.

If you’re unfamiliar with the label they helped launch the careers of artists like Between the Buried and Me, Trivium, All That Remains, Caliban, and Heaven Shall Burn.

We do not have an official release date yet for our debut album Reflections on Lifeforce, but it will be out by early-mid 2009.  There will also be a limited pressing of Reflections that will include a bonus cd including our original self-titled full-length re-mixed and re-mastered by Jamie King.

We would like to thank anyone that has supported us and our music throughout the years. Stay tuned for more news soon!

The above video is of a live performance of Seneca playing their hometown of Charlotte, NC last year. It’s not the best footage but it’s the best I could find.

Rob Zombie "Warzone" Single From Punisher Warzone Movie Soundtrack

October 28, 2008 by Scott

Punisher Warzone Sound track cover Check out the first single from the Punisher: Warzone sound track in the link at the bottom. I gotta say that it sounds pretty cool…right up to the point where Rob Zombie starts singing and then it goes to crap. At like 49 seconds or so in to the song it goes from ‘kind of cool’ to ‘really bad’. It was like they asked “Hey Rob, want to do a song for the new Punisher Sound-track?”, and he was like “Sure, give me 15 minutes to whip something up.“.
