Scion Rock Fest Tickets
January 30, 2009 by Scott
I mentioned earlier this week how to get Scion Rock Fest Tickets. It’s not an easy process unless you live in NC, SC or GA. Some metal sites have some up for grabs. Metal Sucks said they will have 20 pairs and Metal Injection put up 10 pairs yesterday. Metal Martyr? I’m just the little guy and I could only get two pairs. I don’t have them in hand yet, but when I do I will be giving them away pretty quick so I can get them mailed off. The contest might only last day or two. I just want to make sure that I have the tickets before I go promising them to anyone and then something happens and I don’t receive them. So keep an eye out for that in the next week.

Neuraxis – Darkness Prevails Video
January 30, 2009 by Scott
Metal Injection had the privilege to premiere Neuraxis‘ new video Darkness Prevails. If you haven’t had a chance to check out The Thin Line Between on Prosthetic Records, I highly recommend it.
The clip was shot last fall with director Chris Alsop.- Metal Injection
Cannibal Corpse: Then And Now
January 29, 2009 by Scott
I’ve mentioned before that I was more of a fan of the old school Cannibal Corpse with Chris Barnes. The fact is that I obviously haven’t heard enough new Cannibal Corpse with George Fisher. I’ve heard couple of songs here and there but I haven’t sat down and listened to a full album of Cannibal Corpse since the 90’s. Oh how naive I can be!
Obamiconme.com
Check this out. Here is a cool website that you can create your own poster like the ones they used for Obama and McCain this past election. Just go to www.obamiconme.com, register and follow the directions.

Carcass Exhumed To Consume II Tour Info
January 28, 2009 by Scott
Real quick, I posted a lot of stuff yesterday, so this will probably be my only post of today. I say that now but I may post more. I’m also checking out this new Cannibal Corpse album, so I’ll have a review of that up within the week.
Carcass have announced a handful of U.S. Tour dates and calling it Exhumed To Consume II. So if you missed it the first time because they skipped your city, check the list below and see if they are hitting a town near you this time. The following announcement (After the fold w/dates) from Jeff Walker was posted in a myspace bulletin:
Bass Guitar Heroes: Top Ten Bass Players In Metal.
January 27, 2009 by Scott
Every list like this is going to objectionable and subject to criticism from people, but I think it’s rather well put together. It’s not a list of mediocre bass players that have a big name in a big band, but rather a list of skilled bass players that have made a name for themselves through their style and tone. Most bass guitar players in metal bands are just simply there to fill the void. To give the music the heavy bottom end. A lot of them are skilled to a point, but most could be replaced at the drop of a hat. A lot of great players are overlooked, though. Here are ten essential bass guitar players that have wowed me either recently or over the years. A few you might know and a few you may not. I’ll start from the bottom and work my way up.
No Fear Music Tour With Lamb Of God, Children Of Bodom, As I Lay Dying, God Forbid And Municipal Waste
January 27, 2009 by Scott
You remember that date that I talked about on this tour. The TBA date? I was right. They’ll be playing in Lamb Of God’s home town of Richmond, VA on 5/14. Here are the dates once again. Here is a bit of press release from Earache Records concerning Municipal Waste’s participation on the tour. Dates again after the fold.
One of the advantages for MUNICIPAL WASTE being on this tour is the chance to really set themselves apart from the other bands on the lineup and turn heads as the lone thrash band on the bill.
“I think we definitely stand out on the bill, but that’s a good thing;” says MUNICIPAL WASTE guitarist, Ryan Waste. “This is a chance for us to spread our style of hardcore thrash to a crowd that’s probably never heard it – get ready for a full speed assault on the ears!”

Pretty cool looking album cover. Looks like your typical Mastodon album.

Meshuggah, Cynic and The Faceless On Tour
January 27, 2009 by Scott
The news and tour dates come in faster than I can keep up with them lately. Meshuggah will be touring with Cynic and The Faceless for most of the month of February. You’ll be able to peak in to the tour through their online video channel. You can also submit your own pictures and videos.
In addition to videos uploaded by the bands themselves, Cynic and Meshuggah are opening the channel to their fans, and calling on them to send in footage – camera phone or otherwise – from the shows, documenting their own experience of the tour. All concert-goers need to do is send their shots to mctour@kyte.tv, and if accepted, the clips will be available for the entire metal world to see.
Tour dates and video channel can be seen after the fold.
