Opeth Warns Of Fake Tour Ticket Scam

March 31, 2009 by Scott

Opeth’s management is warning fans that the site Opethtickets.com is selling fake tickets and are urging fans to NOT buy from the site.

I checked in to this site and you’d be a blooming idiot to purchase from that site anyway. I check the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey and you can get tickets to that show for $20.00 in advance. On Opethtickets.com they are $59 to $550.00 each if you purchase two. I certainly hope that’s a typo and it was supposed to be $55.00. I don’t know how “Fake” they are because they sell them through stubhub.com, which as far as I know is a legitimate ticket outlet. Anyone that has already purchased tickets at those prices deserves to get ripped off just for being such a dumb-ass. I have found that the best bet is to purchase them through a venue’s website and it’s usually a little cheaper.

New Metal Releases For 3/31/09

March 31, 2009 by Scott

I’m not totally sure I would want to run out and buy the new Queensryche. Never been a huge fan of them anyway and the new video doesn’t do anything to help sell me the new album. I do appreciate their intent on the album concept, even though it seems that so many bands are jumping on the “Support the troops” wagon. I really hope that their intent and concern is genuine and not just a gimmick or marketing ploy.

Black Tide’s Zakk Sandler:"I think there will be songs in the next album that will have real meaning behind them."

March 31, 2009 by Scott

black tide 3

Pamela Parosky from MetalUnderground.com recently interviewed Zakk Sandler from http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=43561. Zakk seems to be the most open personality in the band. I’ve seen them twice as support acts and he’s the one that gets the crowd going and the one that sticks around afterwards to talk to fans.

In the interview he talked about the writing process for the next album, in brief.

Arsis Drummer Returns…Nope Not That One

March 30, 2009 by Scott

Arsis2008h Blabbermouth reports that co-founding member and original drummer Mike Van Dyne has returned to Arsis. Here are a few short excerpts of what both Van Dyne and Jim Malone had to say about his return.

“I can’t say how excited I am to be working Mike Van Dyne again; ARSIS would have never existed in the first place had it not been for him and his motivation. It’s very hard to find people to work with that you can connect both as musicians and as friends. Mike has always been both of these.” said Jim Malone.

Hate To Do Two Posts On Metallica In One Day But…

March 30, 2009 by Scott

It’s Metallica Monday on Fuse. With the band being inducted in to the RRHOF, there’s bound to be a lot of press on then. I try to be choosy when picking what I think should be posted and if you have no better way to spend your evening you can start with Some Kind Of Monster at 6pm. Me, I’ll opt to wait until 9pm for the better Metallica shows. Every time I watch Some Kind Of Monster I get all pissed off because it’s not like some behind the scenes look at the band in a fun way. It shows a bunch of over 40 men pissin’ and moanin’, cryin’ and bitchin’ like a bunch of kids. Sure it showed the “softer” side of Metallica, but who really wants to see a bunch of dudes that need a therapist help them write a bunch of shitty songs and a producer that thinks he’s in the band. I would have loved to see some good behind the scene footage from the early days before the 90’s.~~end of rant…

Metallica: Some Kind of Monster - Premieres Today, Monday, March 30th at 6PM
Metallica: In Their Own Words
- Premieres Today, Monday, March 30th at 9PM
The Metallica Chronicles – Premieres Today, Monday, March 30th at 9:30PM
Metallica: Cunning Stunts
- Premieres Today, Monday, March 30th at 10PM

Jason Newstead Will Perform With Metallica At The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction

March 30, 2009 by Scott

iphotos076889-DVST07140619_Jason_Newstead Metallica blog, Metallicablogmagnetic recently posted about Metallica’s induction in to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and Jason Newstead appearance. Former members were invited to appear and/or perform, but only those that performed on released official records will be among the inductees.

Dave Mustaine was invited to attend but due to touring he couldn’t make the date. Do I think Dave Should be inducted among the members of Metallica? Honestly it’s kind of a maybe but no, not really type feelings. He may have had a great influence on their sound in the early days and they may have even used a few of his songs he wrote before being fired, but fame and fan-hood doesn’t revolve around records alone. You have to get out there and play the music. The records don’t get big by just being released, the band has to go out there and play the records live and promote them just like anything else. Metallica have toured their asses off in the last 26 years.

God Forbid One Coyle Down

March 30, 2009 by Scott

Godforbid Earthsblood Rumors have been circulating that outspoken God Forbid guitarist Dallas Coyle has left the band after it was announced that he’ll be sitting out their upcoming No Fear Energy Music tour with Lamb Of God. There is nothing out there yet confirming these rumors to be true that he has indeed left the band permanently but they are looking to recruit a replacement while he sits this one out. I imagine we’ll hear something on Metalsucks in the near future about this if Dallas does his “Hard R” blog. As far as I know, Dallas and his wife recently had a child (within the last year or so, I’m not sure) so maybe he wants to take some time off and support his wife and spend some time with his family.

March 30, 2009 by Scott

Gaahl And King Ov Hell may have been banished from Gorgoroth by the Norwegian courts but they have carried on under then name Godseed and are taking the “new” band to the road for Hellfest. They will be headlining the “Rock Hard” stage at the event on June 19th in Clisson, France. The line-up for Godseed for the festival includes Gaahl obviously on vocals, King Ov Hell on Bass, Teloch on Guitar, Ice Dale on Guitar, and Dani “Garghuf” Robnik on Drums. Headbanger Ball Recap 3/28

March 28, 2009 by Scott

I haven’t mentioned much about Headbanger’s Ball lately because it’s been on too late for me to really care about it. This week only it was an early show that started at 10pm and it was a pretty good line up…with the exception of 2 songs. Hed PE still sucks and the new Static X song is just like their old songs and I can’t say that I liked it at all. Despite what a lot of other people are saying, I kind of dig the new Dope song, 6-6-Sick. I think it would sound better if someone else was singing, but then it wouldn’t be Dope now would it? Check it out below. The list of all the videos is after the fold (via Roadrunner.com).
