As I Lay Dying: A Long March | The First Recordings
As I Lay Dying A Long March. As I Lay Dying’s A Long March is a reissue of their first record Beneath The Encasing Of Ashes and the follow up EP. The inner sleeve gives a brief history of the band and what it was like just trying to get on their feet and get their first CD recorded.
The CD is quite amazing. Every song on the cd is an onslaught of metalcore at it’s best. Heavy-Heavy-Heavy. If I played this CD at a party with a bunch of metal-heads that always talk shit about this band and didn’t tell them who it was they’d be diggin it. That’s what I always find funny about metal fans. They will hear something and really like it and then ask what it is and when you tell them they seem to be let down because it “one of those bands” that they think they are supposed to hate because if they like them that will make them “less metal”. Honestly I find this album much better that Shadows Are Security but not quite as good as An Ocean between us.
Tracks like When This World Fades, A Long March, Forced To Die and Torn Within are just a few tracks that make this album amazing. I give As I Lay Dying A Long March The First Recording 4 Horns.

You know I saw that they did this horns thing on metalsucks.net this morning and it got me wondering who was doing it first, me? Or them? This was the first time I’ve seen them do it.

Nice, 4 horns! I don’t think I’ve heard this album yet, but if what you say about it is true, it should be another awesome As I Lay Dying album.

I found it at Walmart. I had seen it there before and something told me to grab it. If you like An Ocean Between Us you’ll like it.
