Bloodbath: The Masterless Fathomrey
November 21, 2008 by Scott
Yeah, I’ve been drinking a bit tonight. But not that much, I just thought this album sounded funny that way. Seriously, there is nothing funny about Bloodbath’s latest release The Fathomless Mastery. Aside from Opeth, Mikael Akerfeldt does a sick job in Bloodbath. I think he goes more balls out with the death metal vocals in Bloodbath because he doesn’t have to save his voice for the slower parts like in Opeth. Regardless Bloodbath are an amazing collaboration.
I actually downloaded this on iTunes last Saturday night and kind of forgot about it during the week. What I love about Bloodbath is the balls out (yeah I said it twice), brutality with production quality and melodic arrangements that sound absolutely gut-wrenching yet very well put together and melodic without going overboard with crazy noodling on the guitar as if it’s some stupid talent contest…”Look what I can do…”. Plus as I said there is just something about Akerfeldt vocals that sound horridly awesome. The solos are killer too. You can’t ask for much more in a death metal record than this, I don;t care what anyone says!
If you love the brutal, heavy vocals of Opeth and have never listened to Bloodbath before, I beg you…listen to Bloodbath and bring some tissues to clean yourself up with afterwards, if you know what I mean. (coughorgasmiscough!)
Bloodbath The Fathomless Master is probably THE best death metal album of 2008.

I agree it’s good, but I often feel that something is the best ever when I am drunk and then I dont feel quite as enthusiastic about it.
I like it alot, but not best of 2008
Not the best Metal album of 2008, but the best Death metal album of ‘08. I can’ think of another one from the genre that could match it.
