British Invasion: Motorhead
November 15, 2007 by Scott
After Lemmy was booted from his first band Hawkwind for doing non Hawkwind approved drugs in 1975, he formed his own new band Motorhead. Well they were called Bastard at first but his manager suggested changing the name to a more friendly name for publicity and pop purposes, Lemmy concurred and changed it to Motorhead, then another name for an amphetamine addict.
Motorhead have been an influence on many bands of the metal scene and somehow Lemmy has survived this long to still be recording and touring strong. 27 releases, 11 line-up changes, and movie sound tracks, Lemmy and the band are always hard at work. You’ll mainly hear Motorhead’s newer work in the WWE and their new Better Motorhead Than Dead, Live At The Hammersmith Live CD.
