Carcass Special Edition CD/DVDs

October 27, 2008 by Scott

REEKmock-up So after the reunion started in Europe, Earache, the record label for Carcass thought it would be a great idea to re-release all of Carcass’s records with dual discs and DVDs. I’m glad they did. It started earlier this year with Necroticism: Descanting The Insalubrious back in may and will be complete with the special edition Symphonies Of Sickness that was just released in Europe and will come to North American stores soon after. Each release comes with the original recordings and a DVD with 1 of 5 parts of “The Pathologists Report“, a documentary filmed in 2007 with the band members talking about the band in depth. Each documentary part is 30 minutes long. Some albums may come with bonus tracks or bonus tracks and demos on a separate disc. When stood up side by side like books, the spines of the cd cases for a cool picture of the band with the DVD title and part number. For any Carcass fan, these are a must have. Below is the album titles and release date. Prices may vary, depending on where you buy cd’s but they start around $16.00 but you can buy them at the Earache U.S. Store for $14.00 each (Click on the album title to go directly to the Earache store to order that album).

CarcassNecroticismCDDVD Necroticism: Descanting The Insalubrious: Dual Disc w/ Tools Of The Trade 3 track bonus track EP and DVD Part 3 of “The Pathologist’s Report” (released May 27th, 2008) Although this was the first album recorded with Mike Amott in the ranks, Bill Steer still handled the rhythm with mike only contributing to leads during recording.

CarcassHeartworkCDDVD Heartwork: Dual Disc with original Heartwork Demos and DVD Part 4 of “The Pathologist’s Report: Epidemic” (released June 24th, 2008). A Carcass classic. If you’re not sure if you will like Carcass or not, this is a great place to start. It’s got great production, killer riffs and hooks and is often hailed as their best work.

CarcassSwanCDDVD Swansong: W/ bonus track and DVD Part 5 of “The Pathologist’s Report: Decomposition” (Released September 2nd, 2008). To me, this CD is highly under-rated and was a good follow up to Heartwork. It probably would have been a lot different if Mike Amott were involved. It has more of a hard rock feel to it…but with Jeff Walker on vocals.

ReekCDDVD Reek Of Putrefaction: Digipak with extra artwork and unreleased bonus tracks of “Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment” demo. Contains the dvd  Part 1 of “The Pathologist’s Report: Incubation” and will come in a special “medical bag” to shield sensitive eyes from the gory cover art. (Released October 28th, 2008)

CarcassSOS_CDD Symphonies Of Sickness: Digipak with extra artwork and 6 unreleased bonus tracks and DVD Part 2 of “The Pathologist’s Report:Propagation“. (This has been released in Europe as of October 27th. US release soon to come)
