Carrie Underwood Actually Does A Good Motley Crue Home Sweet Home Cover

March 11, 2009 by Scott

Carrie Underwood covered Motley Crue’s Home Sweet Home for the exit song on America Idol according to MTV.com. Home Sweet Home came off of Theater Of Pain and was the best track on that album. Probably my all time favorite Motley Crue song. Carrie Undewood’s cover of it is actually pretty good. Nothing I would pay for or listen to on a regular basis, but she does an honorable job singing it. Kind of gives it have a slight country tone to it. And hey, it’s better than Lil’ Wayne trying to be a rock star.

Wanna talk about a shocker. I pull up Metal Martyr and the first thing I see is Carrie Underwood. Took me a second there…

If it was a bad cover I probably would not have posted it, but it was good. It wasn’t overdone or rearranged and that’s what made it worth a mention.

Had they made Kelly Clarkson do it they probably would have made it more pop-driven and that would have completely ruined it for me.

    It’s been a strange week…

yeah, seems like we have been seeing alot of pop/rap news on here lately ….. (well maybe just two articles really close to each other)

it might be a good cover, but would be against my morals to even check it out.

I did think about that before I posted it. Don’t worry, it’s not going to become a trend.

I love it! I am a big motley crue fan so I was worried that she might ruin it by countrifying it too much. But her voice isn’t twangy- it is smooth and crystal clear. So it works for her. I always liked Carrie…but it definetly surprised me to hear her cover Crue. It is very good though. Thanx for posting this.
The money for the download on itunes goes to the Humane Society to help animal rescue, so it is all good.

I love it. It was perfect.

I think it is an utter disaster. David Cook should have done the cover, he might have done it justice. I saw MC perform this song at two concerts in the 80’s. What were the people at IDOL smoking?

My wife thinks I am joking, but if I can get about 35 or 40 million people to join me in my boycott of IDOL, I think we can bring them to their senses. :)

The cover is utter crap! Carrie lacks the emotion in singing Home Sweet Home. It’s also not a good one to sing because of the lyrics… “I had to run away high…” What does Carrie and her teenie-bopper fans think that means? It’s a disaterous karaoke version at best. I hate that either the Crue or Nikki Sixx sold out by allowing for this song to be done by her. No offense to Carrie, but it shouldn’t have been her singing a cover… either Daughtry or David Cook… if they wanted to have Idol Alums sing it. Had to listen to the original 15 times to get the horrid cover out of my head!
Those that think that its a good Cover… sorry, but you’re all smoking some bad juju!

  9. Scott says:

Yeah, Like I want to hear Daughtry sing it like Mr. Ed.
