Machine Head vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn had this to say,

”Found time to hop into Trident Studios with Juan Urteaga and record a PANTERA tune for a b-side. We’re doing ‘Fucking Hostile’!!! Dave is done with drums (nailed it on the second take!), and I finished guitars yesterday and got vocals in the bag. Phil comes in tomorrow, then Adam, then it’ll be mixed and mastered by the end of the week. Mike Sloat has been documenting, so we’ll probably have video snippets up when the whole thing gets closer to release. We also just announced our sole U.S. headline date on November 6 in NY, so FUCKIN’ A!!! Come make a road trip to N.Y. for some raging metal!!!”

“I gotta be honest with ya, the boss is not even giving me a phone call, so I mean, it’s just like, what’s going on over there? Are we doing this thing, are we not doing it? I keep getting asked these questions, I go ‘Call the boss, when he tells you, you call me back’.”

As the conversation progresses, Zakk becomes more and more agitated until he finally explodes into an expletive rich cacophony to the tune of:

“Where I come from, the bottom line is, s*** like this goes down, I swear to Christ, we snap motherf***ers necks and beat the living s*** out of people. It ain’t f***ing cool. So it is what it is. The wife can say what she wants and all this other s***. It ain’t f***ing cool. It’s just like, alright, cool, you want to play tough guy s***? Look me in the eyes, I’ll tell him ‘Meet me in the back f***ing alley, and we’ll get this f***ing s*** on. You gonna f***ing treat me like a dick? F*** you.”

If Zakk hasn’t been contacted at all about his apparent expulsion as Ozzy’s lead guitarist, I can understand his frustration. However, before this recording, there may have been a chance of a reconciliation down the road. I don’t see it now, nor do I call people who bite the heads off of living animals (and pay my bills) out into back alleys. I’m just sayin’.
