Giving you a quick update from the road on our last-second venture with Ensiferum and Blackguard. Shit has been pretty awesome thus far. We left late Friday night, after the guys went and saw Job for a Cowboy, Gwar, and LoG in our hometown, the show was pretty fucking sick, headed off to Allentown, PA where the infamous Croc Rock pizza awaited…it wasn’t so hot haha! We really had no idea what to expect as this tour as it’s a little bit different genre-wise. It’s been hit or miss, but for the most part I think it’s getting through. Hopefully Peter and Alexi can get into the country asap so Hypocrisy can start tearing it up every night as well! The second night we played at Volume 11 in Raleigh, NC…and we have a little history there. As our previous three visits we laid a goose egg on merch every time, this time through, we finally got some good merch sales and had some very generous friends smoke us out, which meant our perception of Volume 11 did a huge 180! We grilled out that night with the guys from Blackguard (totally awesome brothers and an amazing band, definitely check them out!) shared a bottle of Jay-mo and woke to the sound of angry businessmen telling us to move our vehicle from their parking lot. We obviously denied the mess of beer cans strewn about the outside of the bus haha, but hey, I didn’t know anything about that!! After Atlanta we drove straight to Jacksonville, FL where some friends of ours reside, just dodging Ida on the way, very lucky there, our bus and trailer don’t mix with tropical storms. Our show was cancelled in Ft. Lauderdale which totally blew cuz we all were really looking forward to heading to the beach down south. SO, we made up for it and spent the day at Universal Studios, and needless to say, it was fucking awesome. Most of us had never been there before and it’s easily one of the most fun parks I’ve ever been to. It was a pretty cloudy day so NOBODY was there; we went on everything multiple times through. We shared some drinks and lunch at the Hard Rock (we saw Dime’s Crown Royal Guitar and Vinnie’s full Pearl set used at the show where Dime was shot, pretty intense shit). Met up with the guys from Blackguard and hit some coasters with them. We grabbed a hotel and passed the fuck out as I had been up for 36 hours straight ensuring we could make this awesome day happen in time. Last night was Orlando, FUCK downtown Orlando parking. We had to park a mile away after we unloaded, after we played had to come back again, and then there was some confusion with payment as we were playing this Anti Pop festival, which had a million shows going on, the city was fucking packed, so we sat double parked on a one way street in front of the venue until payment was received haha…and it was. Long drive ahead to Texas and then to CALI!! Can’t fucking wait, I’ll be throwing some more updates at ya next week, until then spread the word that we are on “The Tour from Afar” with Ensiferum, Hypocrisy, and Blackguard, then hopping on with Vader and Warbringer for a couple weeks, see all you fucks on the road!!! Oh and there’s a video coming soon of what we do most while on the road…COD…constantly haha! Light em up and drink em down!”

GWAR’s “AMERICA MUST BE DESTROYED” DELUXE EDITION WITH “TOUR DE SCUM” AND “PHALLUS IN WONDERLAND” OUT NOW!

You might think that servicing the needs of GWAR in this, the midst of their 25th Anniversary Tour would be a full-time job. And it is! But for the artists of Slave Pit Inc., the production company that created and maintains GWAR lust for all things rubber, a constant slew of side-projects is business as usual. This holiday season sees the artists behind the most notorious band in metal history involved in a bevy of extra-curricular delights.

Besides portraying GWAR’s bellicose lead singer Oderus Urungus, Dave Brockie is a painter, writer and avid snowboarder…and has just released his own signature snowboard! When old buddy, huge GWAR fan, and ex-pro rider Ron Bureta got his own company going, the long-held idea of a Brockie snowboard finally became a reality.

Says Bureta, “Since “HELL-O!” I have been a huge GWAR fan, scaring the jocks in high school by singing lyrics from “Slutman City” out loud. During my Pro Snowboarder days, I always wanted to do a GWAR graphic but my sponsors thought that it wouldn’t be cool. Now that I own my own company I’m doing things my way. Teaming up with Dave Brockie for this project is a dream come true for me and is the next best thing to becoming a GWAR Slave.”

Check it out at http://oderus.com/timewasters/sined/index.html

Brockie’s behind the scenes look at the birth of GWAR, “GWAR, Me, and the Onrushing Grip of Death” has reached its 13th episode at http://rvanews.com/sections/columns/gwar

Meanwhile, Brockie continues to churn out collectible art pieces for private collections worldwide. Check out his work at http://oderus.com/timewasters/artmoney/index.html

But Brockie isn’t alone in his fanatical zeal to create art and somehow make a living off of it. His Slave-Pit confederates Bob Gorman and Matt Maguire also have their bloody little fingers in a multitude of pies.

GORMAN’S TROLLS AS FEATURED IN SPIN MAGAZINE

Bob Gorman is one of GWAR’s lead slaves and portrays GWAR’s hapless killing creates t-shirt designs and logos, custom illustration, and paintings. He also designs and fabricates custom props and costumes for GWAR and other clients and manufactures and sells concrete “Garden Trolls”, as featured in the Nov. 2009 issue of Spin magazine. Finally, he designs and fabricates full custom bicycles. He can be reached at bobgorman.com or gwarofficial@myspace.com

MATT MCGUIRE’S “FRIENDS” THINK “BLOOD IS YUMMY”.

Slave-Pit artist Matt Maguire is one of the main figures on the Slave-Pit shop floor and GWAR’s live show. This talented artist, who plays GWAR’s mixed up Scumdog cohort Sawborg-Destructo, also builds lots of the props and costumes for used by GWAR, also designs many of the shirts and other graphic elements of GWAR’s assault on humanity, and also serves as GWAR’s stage manager. Yet somehow he finds time to produce all kinds of collectible art. He does custom drawings, paintings, and tattoo designs, and creates limited runs of a host of bizarre creatures, including the “Blood is Yummy”, and “Friends” figures. Matt and Bob Gorman collaborate on the slave-trade.net site, and he can be reached through mattmaguire.com or at slavetrade.net for graphics, tattoos, and costumes one of a kind art, and fabrication work. He has a line of t- shirts, stickers and limited runs of latex “friends”, figures .and small blood is yummy guys coming soon on slavetrade.net. Bob Gorman and I will also have limited prints soon.

In other GWAR news the Scumdogs have unleashed upon the unwitting populace of North America a special collection of classics from the GWARchives. America Must Be Destroyed, GWAR’s 1992 opus, can now be purchased in a special edition digipak that’s also crammed with a DVD that includes the seminal GWAR films Tour De Scum and Phallus In Wonderland. Never before have they all been available in one package for you to get your clammy human hands on!

“Starting November 24, additional tracks from ‘Death Magnetic’ will be available as downloadable singles for 200 Wii points each. If you’re keeping score, that would be ‘All Nightmare Long’, ‘That Was Just Your Life’, ‘The Day That Never Comes’, ‘The Judas Kiss’, ‘The End Of The Line’, ‘The Unforgiven III’, ‘Suicide & Redemption J.H.’ and ‘Suicide & Redemption K.H.’ Enjoy!”

With their first ever Creep-In Day, dedicated fans and collectors receive a rare opportunity to be tattooed spontaneously without an appointment at the infamous Last Rites Tattoo Theatre… and on Halloween to boot! Along with Paul Booth himself, the Last Rites family of masterful artists will take in the haunting energy of Halloween, Last Rites style, and produce stunning tattoo art on a first-come-first-serve basis! Paul will even be venturing out from his private lair and tattooing in the family crypt making the day an awesome “meet & greet” opportunity for fans and clients alike! In addition to this overdose of high energy freehand tattooing from 12 to 12, the day includes visual stimuli such as live painting sessions featuring Esao Andrews, Vincent Castiglia, Fred Harper, Dan Quintana, David Stoupakis, and Genevive Zacconi. ArtFusion Experiment collaborative painting performances by notable Tattoo Artists such as Paul Acker, Goethe, Juan Selgado, Jesse Smith, and more! An ArtFusion canvas will be open for the public to paint as well! The Film Chapel will be rolling Paul’s personal Horror movie picks continuously day and night. And of course, costumes are welcome and encouraged! And last but not least, the day will end at 11:59pm followed by a traditional Last Rites “Kool-Aid” Toast to bring in the Witching Hour.

Please read on for special details…

Paul Booth and Crew will be following normal protocol used for conventions and touring. This means one-sitting freehand style work with an approx. 3 hour time limit on a piece. If you are looking to start a multiple sitting project such as a sleeve or backpiece, then this is not a day for such. Our best advice to you is to give our accomplished artists your theme and trust them with the artistic freedom to run with it for you. 3 hours can get a good sized piece done so don’t let the time issue concern you. We do this to be fair to everyone that desires Last Rites Art. We also suggest getting here earlier than opening time if you are really serious about getting work. The doors will open at 12 noon and anyone behaving overly aggressive, intoxicated or under the influence of drugs will not be tolerated. This event will be filmed for an upcoming Last Rites DVD so costumes are encouraged but not mandatory!

Meet and Greet the artists and fellow clients all day and night!

Crazy Performers will be unearthing themselves throughout the day for everyone’s twisted amusement!

Food, Drink and visual stimuli all day long… No Cover! Costumes Welcome!

Paul Booth states,

“We want to show our fans our true appreciation for their support, by allowing them the opportunity to avoid the waiting list… and get tattooed convention style. I have been spending quite a bit of time here at home focusing on my larger projects and I find myself occasionally missing the road. Now I can sort of go on tour without leaving home and get a good dose of that convention energy I have come to know so well. I have always liked the idea of bringing our fans together to meet each other as they have always shown a strong like-mindedness. This is why I want to make it a meet & greet day as well.”

This Wednesday Live Nation gives fans ultimate access to some of their favorite bands when for one day only every single fan who buys a ticket to a Live Nation club show is automatically entered to win an Ultimate Access Pass to the venue for which they bought their ticket. The Ultimate Access Pass is Live Nation’s golden ticket, good for admission to every single show in 2010 to an individual Live Nation venue. Every Live Nation club venue will have an Ultimate Access winner, with the names of winners posted on LiveNation.com Thursday morning at 12 Noon Eastern time. On Ultimate Access Wednesday every single ticket will be available at reduced cost as Live Nation drops the service fee on hundreds of thousands of tickets in its club venues across the country for one day only.

In addition to offering the concert goers the chance to win the Ultimate Access Pass, Live Nation is bringing music fans and their favorite bands closer together by hosting fan-and-band meet and greets at venues across the country. Bands including Anvil, Between The Buried And Me, Dethklok and Mastodon, Hellogoodbye, Hollywood Undead with Atreyu and Escape The Fate, LMFAO with Shwayze, Taking Back Sunday, Tesla and The Used will spend the afternoon meeting fans, taking pictures and answering questions. And third, is the chance to pick up no service fee tickets to see their favorite bands on hundreds of thousands of club tickets on LiveNation.com. Also on the list of terrifying events will be the screening of over a dozen new films including the latest entry in the legendary zombie series from the godfather of modern horror, George A. Romero’s SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD.

Celebrity appearances, signings, screenings, vendors, exhibitors, panel discussions, special FX make-up applications, video gaming, tattooing, collectibles, special VIP parties and more will set the stage for a special Halloween night performance in the Pearl Concert Theater by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning alternative metal masters, SLIPKNOT.

SLIPKNOT vocalist Corey Taylor, a self-described horror, comic and action figure geek will surely be walking the convention hall. Taylor states,

“I’m stoked! When I saw the list of the people that Fangoria was able to get for this, I was stoked out of my mind! We’ve got everybody from Richard Christy from Death to Tom Savini. We’ve got Malcolm McDowell! I am in geek heaven right now! … It’s something really special, and it’s something that’s never been done in Vegas. It’s hopefully going to be one of the biggest things that Fangoria’s ever done and we’ve ever done. We get to play on Halloween.
MACHINE HEAD stood their ground, however, and went on to headline the Jagermeister stage on the Mayhem Festival, and just returned from a triumphant headlining spot atop this years (20th Anniversary) Wacken Festival in Germany to 85,000 people. MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel had this to say,

“We are extremely excited to announce our only U.S headline show this year, and to have it be in New York is going to be insane!!!” Added singer Robb Flynn, “We really felt like doing something special for the U.S. fans to get ready for the Canadian Carnage dates. What better place to do it than with our maniacal fanbase in New York!!!”

MACHINE HEAD will play their sole U.S. headline show on Friday, November 6th at Club Loaded At The Crazy Donkey in New York. Support comes from Stillborn recording artist Thy Will Be Done, Ferret recording artist This Or The Apocalypse, Roadrunner Records recording artist Mutiny Within and more. For more detailed information, go to the promoters’ website at ClubLoaded.com.
