Flyleaf Release Two New Memento Mori Webisodes

Flyleaf have just added Memento Mori webisodes parts 3 and 4 to their Kyte Channel. In the 3rd webisode the band talks about the artwork behind Memento Mori, which was created by bassist Pat Seals, using a woodcut technique. In the clip, guitarist Sameer beams,

“Pat is an amazing artist. We’ve kinda assigned him to doing all the artwork on the record, videos, and for photo shoots.” He later exclaims, “The whole texture of woodcutting and the way it looks, it has a really beautiful feel to it.”

In the 4th webisode the band talks about the photo shoots for Memento Mori, as well as the album packaging (the scenery for which was also created by bassist Pat Seals). Vocalist Lacey describes the meaning behind the scenery:

“The scene comes out of a story about a King who won a battle and came home victorious, where a slave (me), traveled behind him saying, ‘Memento Mori’ (remember mortality).”

Later on in the clip Pat talks about brainstorming ideas for music videos.

“Sameer has actually been taking the reigns on brainstorming ideas with different directors we have….it kind of freed up some of the weight off the location and the theme of the video. It allowed for some of the creative aspects to come through us.”

Memento Mori arrives in-stores everywhere on 11/10.

Rob Zombie Halloween Concert Footage

Below is some footage shot by Christy Borgman of LA Woman Photography at the Palladium in Hollywood, CA on Halloween night. Rob Zombie kicked off his new tour on October 29th in support of the upcoming Hellbilly Deluxe 2 album that will be released on November 17th.

Zombie had the following to say,

“We have a lot of new things this time, you know, we didn’t want to go out and just do the same old show, so we’ve dug deep and we’ve kind of tried to mix it up. You know, there’s always the obvious songs that you have to play for people that they want to hear, but we’re actually going back and we’re grabbing some songs that I’ve actually never played live ever. And as far as the stage show, there’s been some pretty incredible advancements in digital technology, so we have a pretty high-tech show going on. It’s pretty awesome.”

Mastodon Footage from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Mastodon performed their song “Divinations” from Crack the Skye last night (Oct 29) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In my opinion live metal performances on talk shows/live TV always end up sounding like shit, and this one is no exception… and since Jimmy Fallon has had several metal bands performing on his show lately, maybe it’s time to get a decent sound technician?

Katatonia Discusses Their Influences

Anders and Jonas of the Swedish metal band Katatonia sat down in London a couple of weeks ago to discuss a few of their major influences in regards to their upcoming album Night is the New Day.

They mention artists such as Fields of the Nephilim, the late, great Jeff Buckley and The Cure among others as having some influence on the direction they decided to take on this new album. Check out the video below, and pre-order your copy of Night is the New Day!

The GENITORTURERS are excited to announce two in-store signing sessions in support of their new album BLACK HEART REVOLUTION in Seattle and Las Vegas. The Seattle signing takes place on Thursday October 29^th at Silver Platters located at 701 5^th Ave N. (Corner of Roy St) at 7:00 PM. The Las Vegas signing will take place at Zia Records located at 4225 S. Eastern Ave.

Atreyu Release Fifth Webisode

Atreyu’s new album Congregation of the Damned is almost here, and to keep up the buzz the band has released a new webisode. This clip previews a song titled “Leading Is A Luxury” off the upcoming record, and gives a behind-the-scenes look at a live show as well as the recording process. Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Talks Horror, Trinity of Terrors

In what is set to be the biggest, baddest and most gruesome convention to hit Las Vegas, Fangoria’s Trinity Of Terrors continues to add to the list of scream-worthy celebrities set to attend the three day event. The multi-media horror event which will take place Halloween weekend had previously announced guest appearances from the likes of John Waters (PINK FLAMINGOS, SEED OF CHUCKY) and Malcolm McDowell (A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, ROB ZOMBIE’S HALLOWEEN) and now the newly announced addition of Bruce Campbell (EVIL DEAD, ARMY OF DARKNESS).
