Children Of Bodom | Blooddrunk Re-Review

April 16, 2008 by Scott

Children_Of_Bodom-Blooddrunk Last night I did a quick review on Children Of Bodom’s Blooddrunk. Perhaps I was a little quick on the trigger, but at the time I wasn’t really impressed. After listening to it through a few times today I’m honestly starting to love it. The solos on Lobotomy are awesome and some of the keyboard solos are pretty impressive throughout the album. Yeah, yeah…some “Real” metal heads don’t believe in keyboards in metal, well quit living in the 80’s. If you are one of the few that have listened to the streaming album on COB’s Myspace and didn’t like it then give it a listen a few more times before totally dismissing it. Tie My Rope is on the Viva La Bands compilation and is also a killer tune. Hellhounds On My Trail seems a bit long but also grows on you after a listen or two. As I said before, Ghost Riders In The Sky is a cool sounding cover even though it’s been covered by just about every other band on the planet. If you are weary of buying Blooddrunk, don’t be fooled by the bad or mediocre reviews. Give it a chance. I guess I expected to be floored like I was with the Cavalera Conspiracy. But now that it has grown on me overnight, I think it’s time to explore Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper.

Agreed. I am a huge COB fan who will see them this Sat in louisville ky. I was not impressed with the songs when i listened to them online, but in the car after buying the cd, i love it. If you are a fan of other cds from the band definately give it a try or two before letting it go.
