I always get the CD of the music I'm really into but that's not where the artists make the money, the real deal comes from the shows, everybody knows that. What I like about the situation nowadays is the added value you get with most new releases. Years ago we were happy with a 4 page booklet and a CD. Now it's not uncommon to get a big booklet with tons of info and a bonus DVD. Not to mention all the special packs, bundles and cheap pre-orders. All in all, it makes my buying experience a lot more interesting and I'm willing to shell out the cash for "the good stuff" :) @Giles – I agree about the used CDs.

The only difference was a lack of Internet presence and mainly MySpace so you didn't know about all the bands.
