Crack The Sky…The Movie
May 7, 2009 by Scott
Pink Floyd’s The Wall was a great concept album and movie. It was a lot better when I was younger and watched it under the influence of certain things, but it was still a brilliant concept. The Who did it with Tommy, albeit not my favorite. Various others could have done it. Queensryche could have done an Operation Mindcrime and Judas Priests newest album would make a good Broadway show perhaps. I would be quite interested in a Crack The Skye movie, even if it was an animated type deal, which I think would make it even more trippy. Brann Dailor had quite a bit to say about it to Billboard.com, but he says it ultimately comes down to money.
“It all comes down to money,” Dailor acknowledges. “We don’t want to half-ass it; we want to make it real and…awesome. But we’re in a time period where labels are doing significantly less, moneywise, or trying to cut back, and making movies isn’t exactly cutting corners. It’s hard for an A&R guy to go to whoever writes the checks and be like, ‘Yeah, this band that sells 150,000 records wants to make a million-dollar movie…’ But we’re not ruling it out yet.”
I say go for it. I was hoping to catch Mastodon play Crack The Skye in full next week but unfortunately I can’t make it and they only have one more date after that before heading to the UK. I’m almost thinking about driving five hours down to Georgia on the 15th just to be able to do that. Anyway, Mastodon, Crack The Skye Movie, your thoughts?

I think a movie from that particular album would be epic, because certain songs in this album sounds like some music score for a movie. And you’re right, an animation would be the most suitable movie because more often than not when I am driving alone and playing it in my CD player, I would be drawn to imagine some form of background animated vision at the back of my head to elevate my senses while listening to it. That way I wouldnt feel bored listening to it like 1000 times.
I really hope they make a movie about this album. I’m flying from west virginia to see the may 15th show.
Yeah seriously this album is the greatest. I went to the orange peel in asheville on may 14th because I heard such great reviews about them live. I live in New Zealand. I found out about the show on May 12th and got the quickest ticket I could to Asheville. I stayed at a respectable friends house for awhile and decided they weren’t as “respectable” as they should’ve been. It pissed me off a ton, I’m not gonna lie. So I headed down to the Renaissance Hotel near downtown. It was a great stay, I had an amazing maid named Carmen who got the job done and a little extra more =]. I would recommend her to any lonely man. Anyway, too much about my sex stories. I will now talk about my time in Africa.
I once heard about a thing called the GDP. It means the gross domestic product of a country, which is basically how much they buy. Once I realized it was so low, I thought man they must be in some tough shit lol =]. I went down there in May 2008 and returned in March 2009. It was the most rewarding of things I have ever accomplished. I learned how to play amazing African djembe and realized, “this is what I should be doing for a living, instead of teaching deaf children to hear.”
I am now in a group called MRA, which means more ridiculous African (African Drum Group playing Djembe and conga. I am the drummer, Nick Demarco. I play soccer a bit much to keep up with my insane coke addiction. I spend $240 a day just on coke. $60 a gram, 5 lines a gram, 2 lines to get high. It’s ridiculous. My cocaine habit is getting out of hand. When I reach the comedown section, all I want is more cocaine. So, i take 2 lines at 7 AM. They last me ’til 9 AM. I need to get fucked up again at 9, so I take two more lines.
This whole process repeats throughout the day, it is not the best thing in the world.
In my English class, I am cordially reading “To Kill a Mockingbird”. It is a story of a brother and sister who are the children of an attorney named Atticus Finch. In this book, Atticus is defending a black male in the times of the 1930’s. As you can infer, they are extremely humiliated constantly by members of their community, Maycomb County.
Right now in English, we are doing an “I Believe” essay. This essay is supposed to show my views and standpoints of certain things and what I believe about them. Right now, I believe that the world is run fully by a brain controlling dictator from another country, such as Russia. Russians are the only people who know about the deal between us and the Czar and how he controls us. That’s why they act so arrogant around us. The whole band Mastodon is probably Russian and they are hinting the deal between us and the Czar in their music. Their new album talks about the Czar and how we have an assassination on him soon. I believe that the whole band of Mastodon is going to carry out an assassination of the Czar.
My beliefs, of course, are just beliefs. They in no way support racial discrimination, sexism, or violence whatsoever.
AHHHH!!!!!
“Javon’s word!”
