Wow - Dave is sure full of enthusiasm ! It's good to see he is a great father, an amazing musician and a statesmen. At 50 years old, I become bitter when I see all the hate, drama and bullshit life is throwing at people and to see Dave breaking ground, playing his ass off and really attempting to connect with as many people as possible,my hope for a little brighter day stays alive.
You are a true icon, Mr. Mustaine and I wish your carreer all the success !
About the similarities between metal bands - you know, there are maybe 10 true metalbands operating out there - most lift ideas, riffs and lyrics straight off these great musicians. Megadeth has always been a trend breaking and setting band. I am not going to blab on about all the posers, the Norwegian cult shit but one thing I know for sure. All true metal fans hold a special place for Megadeth.
Keep it Real, Boys !

Dave sounds like he's glowing with enthusiasm, and the next Deth record should hopefully be awesome. Certainly, Megadeth is one of the most copped bands out there, palm-muting has become so much more common in post-Megadeth albums, and there's almost an entire generation of shredders that sound like Marty (or try, anyway), but hopefully, the new record should slay. United Abominations shook loose some of the fears that Megadeth had become Megapop, and Mustaine seems to have stayed his typical teenaged self for the past near-thirty years, but personally, I don't mind the near-universally-panned Youthanasia, particularly the first four tracks, and the bonus New World Order. If we got some of the "Not Afraid To Be Melodic" side of Mustaine from Youthanasia, with some hard-rocking, snarling, shredding and screaming from Killing Is My Business... or Rust In Peace, it could very well turn-out to be a near-perfect record.

And he's damned right about a thousand bands sounding the same, there have been quite a few sub-genres almost ignored by the mainstream, and this has led to repetitiveness, especially because bands of one scene don't want to do something with elements of another genre, for fear of being ridiculed. Just look at the Scandinavian Black Metal scene right now, it's a mess, mostly because of the lack of recent, interesting evolution. The whole viking thing that Bathory started became its own spinoff, and Black Metal itself has been sort of messy, especially since it was largely hijacked by Norway, but I digress. Certainly, the death of Quorthon sort of killed it anyway.

But above all, I miss stoner metal. Sure it isn't completely dead, but the world needs more of it.

Keep it up, Dave.

I don't know about making the best Megadeth record ever, but i can sense his enthusiasm about making something really good. And you know Dave, talking shit sometimes.
