Well another Ozzy fan has made headlines and another police tasing incident has come into play. The Sioux City Journal reported that the 16 year old Travis Coleman was trying to start a mosh pit towards the end of the show. Security called police to have him removed because you know, security couldn’t handle a 16 year old kid…cause thats not their job is it? What the sense in having security staff if they have to call the cops. Whatever happened to getting thrown out of a venue like a fish? I don’t care if you are 16, I’m sure they can detain you until authorities arrive or mommy and daddy come to pick you up.
You know, Ozzy’s music is kinda heavy…but I don’t ever see any real good mosh pits at Ozzy shows…
Anyway, here is the story from the Sioux City Journal as reported by Blabbermouth.net:
“Travis Coleman of SiouxCityJournal.com reports that a teen was tased and arrested after allegedly fighting with officers during the OZZY OSBOURNE concert at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa Sunday (November 4).
The 16-year-old Sioux City boy was allegedly trying to start a mosh pit near the end of the show when security called Sioux City police to help remove the boy, said Lt. Marti Reilly.
The three police officers tried to take hold of the boy, who was allegedly swinging his arms and being aggressive, Reilly said. After the officers told him to stop resisting and he refused, the boy was tased. One officer was slightly injured, Reilly said.
The boy was charged with misdemeanor counts of interference with official acts, failure to obey a police officer and assault on a police officer. ”
The so called Prince Of Darkness has received a lot of press this year as far as Ozfest and “Bad” media goes. With everything from fans dying at concerts, under-age drinking busts, and sting operations using his name. The question here is…does it really matter? It’s not the first time Ozzy has been the target of bad publicity and it won’t be the last.

It is sad that venue security could not handle this. Most places I have been to, when someone starts to get unruly/inappropriate, 3 or 4 security guards who look like cromags jump on the guy (or girl), apply a nice little chokehold or armbar, and drag the jerk away. But ( and I don’t want to sound like a dick or anything ) but I have also been to many a show where these young punks act like total fools thinking that security/police won’t do anything to them. Maybe the taser was extreme, but I bet this fool won’t fight with the cops ever again.
One more thing- Scott you’re so right, who the heck fires up a mosh pit at an Ozzy show? Does ” Mama I’m Coming Home” really inspire the need to slam dance? I don’t think so.

Yeah, I just didn’t understand the ozzy mosh pits? Even the older stuff doesn’t really justify any moshing…strange~
