Fear The Silence…Or Beg Them For It!

September 26, 2008 by Scott

Metal Edge Magazine’s compilation CD that comes with their October/November issue has the usual mix of good, bad and absolutely horrible singles from some bands you’ve heard of, but mostly bands you haven’t. The first song on the CD is Hatebreed’s cover of Sepultura’s Classic Refuse/Resist from their October 28th covers album called For The Lions.

Now on to the not so good. Fear The Silence’s “A New Hope” is the 4th track on the cd. The run down on them reads like this.

“Fear The Silence is a band from Buffalo, NY area. The band has been together for only a short while, but their passion ands dedication for making music shows through. The band is releasing the self titled EP towards the end of 2008.”

It starts off with the usual metalcore sound, but when the clean vocals kick in, it is absolutely dreadful. I mean it sounds like Billy Corgan with his nuts in a twist. There is good clean vocals and there is bad…this goes beyond bad in to a whole other dimension. No doubt the scene kids will eat this emo/core up.

Check it out for yourself and tell me what you think.

different people have different taste. that cd is just trying to introduce people to stuff they might not have heard and throwing a couple of classics in there too. I personally like that song. But, hey, whatever floats your boat
