Gigantour Hecklers
March 13, 2008 by Scott
In the latest issue Of Revolver Magazine it had a pretty cool interview with some members of the Gigantour ‘08 crew. One thing they touched on was hecklers at the concerts. As we all know when you get a bunch of different bands onstage in one show you always have disrespectful concert goers heckling the bands they don’t like. The bands on this years Gigantour roster are Megadeth, Children Of Bodom, In Flames, High On Fire and Job For A Cowboy. The band members in the interview are Dave Mustaine, Alexi Laiho, Matt Pike, and Jonny Davy. Here are a few short excerpts from the issue of what the bands on the tour think of hecklers.
“Revolver: Are any of you at all worried about how another band’s audience will receive your band on Gigantour?
Laiho: There’s always gonna be that one group of people, but you have to ignore that f*cking sh*t. ou can start crying about it in the microphone, but that just makes you look like a pussy.
Pike: There’s some people you could chop your own head off and throw it at them and they would still boo you.
Laiho: There are dudes that actually pay f*cking $30 just to get into the show to throw a bottle in my face.
Iwers: When people don’t like what I do, I just try to do it better, try to them that we’re good.
Mustaine: I get heckled by my own fans.”
The rest of the interview is great as well. If your willing to spend $4.99 for this interview and a peak at Light This City’s front-woman Laura Nichol, then pick it up. This is actually one of the better issues of Revolver as of late. There is another interview where All That Remains Front-man, Phil Labonte, interviews Sammy Hagar. Meshuggahs featured in it as well because of their recently released obZen cd on Nuclear Blast records. Peace.

Looks like a good issue, and for 5 bucks, I’ll try and stop by a magazine stand whenever I can. Interviews of Gigantour ‘08 members, Phil Labonte, Sammy Hagar, and a look at Laura Nichol totally make this issue worth picking up for me.

In my opinion, Revolver has been lacking badly as a metal magazine. This issue is pretty good but they focus a lot on stupid drama and bands that…well, suck!
Yea, I’ve flipped through a few issues of Revolver, but never really read any. As far as metal magazines go, I’ve pretty much only looked at Decibel and Metal Maniacs.

Man, I CANNOT wait to go tp this show! I almost wet my pants when I found out that this tour was coming to my little city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada…Hopefully we get tons more big name metal, and I for one, have no intention of heckling any of the bands, might just call Mustaine a little bit of a douche if he pulls out the uber-arrogance… but that won’t stop me from enjoying Megadeth. Personally, I’m going to finally experience Children of Bodom live and see In Flames again, last time I saw them they blew the roof off!
I saw Megadeth on the Cryptic Writing tour and I would love to see Children Of Bodom. After buying Hatecrew and hearing some of their new stuff I can’t wait for the new record
Kevin, Metal Maniacs and decibel are hard to find around my parts unless I drive 40 miles to hit a magazine store in Raleigh, NC. It’s kinda weird because I used to buy MM in my home town’s tiny ass grocery store.
I would love to see Gigantour as well but this year it is not coming anywhere near upstate NY, which is too bad because Bodom kicks ass live and In Flames blew me away when I saw them opening for Slayer. Guess I will have to settle for a 100 mile road trip to see this year’s Jagermeister tour ( Type O negative and Hatebreed ).
