God Dethroned’s Passiondale Streaming In It’s Entirety At Metalsucks.net
April 24, 2009 by Scott
2008 was a great year for metal, but just 4 months in to 2009 and I’ve been absolutely blown away by some of the releases that have been hitting the shelves.
I posted my review of God Dethroned’s Passiondale a couple of weeks ago. I’m still blown away by this album and apparently a few others agree.
SMNNews.com state: “On the soon to be released Passiondale, the Dutch act drop one piercing guitar riff after the other giving drummer Roel Sanders no choice but to keep his bass drum pedals working overtime. His impressive footwork and blast beats here are nothing short of spectacular…albums this good shouldn’t be ignored.”
Metalsucks.net said: “Passiondale is a compact, precise, and immensely rewarding listen, essentially a barbed collection of riffs that you’ll most likely find yourself humming afterward…The melodic tinges are very Heartwork, while the black metal elements are nail bombs occasionally thrown in to put a part or riff over the top (the fierce opening “Under a Darkening Sky” bobs and weaves between the two seamlessly, while the title track swells with an almost In Flames sort of bigness)…Passiondale is a precise yet affecting record that’s not afraid of beauty or sadness, but certainly isn’t preoccupied with it.”
A week ago the album was streaming on their myspace. Now there are only three tracks available for streaming, but you can still stream the whole album over at Metalsucks.net where they have the exclusive.
