“Head” Case
So Brian “Head” Welch kicked his meth addiction and found God. Good for him. He’s selling a book, telling his story and in the meantime Korn gets a bit of bad publicity from it but it’s not effecting the band or the fans. This is a case where he is going to be scrutinized for his sudden spirituality. Let’s not go the wrong way with this. Suddenly every metal fan wants to call him a sheep, a phony and/or a hypocrite because suddenly he’s “using” Jesus to sell his story.
Now once again, my days of bible bashing are long over, you find that when you mature you see how silly it is and that it’s all part of a gimmick in metal and that the real sheep are the metal fans that are screaming blasphemies about how God is fake and retelling all the bad things that have happened in the Christian world. Lest we forget that satanism isn’t exactly a good thing? No matter where you go in life there is going to be a few bad apples in every good basket. I don’t like the fact that religion has been the cause in one way or another of every major war in history but thats the truth. There is nothing I can do about it so why make an issue of it.
Spirituality works for some and not others. What makes it hard for people to hold their tongue is that people that are atheistic or agnostic normally don’t try to state their opinion until it’s brought up and beliefs are forced upon them and then they get defensive and the people that started the whole thing start judging and then everything gets out of control.
Long story short. Before you start calling others “sheep” take a good look at yourself and realize that you too are a “sheep” just being led by a different shepherd. Just like “Non-conformists” conform to their own ways. So we are all sheep, hypocrites and conformists…just not always for the same cause. Wake up and smell reality.
Is “Head” wrong for using God to change his life? No, why does that make him bad. Is he capitalizing on Christianity? I hope not. Perhaps he’s just trying to sell a book about how he changed his life for the better and he’s proud of himself because he’s making a better life for his family. You may find yourself in a similar predicament one day and sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do what’s necessary.

” Non conformists conforming to thier own ways. ” I love it. Several years ago I saw Marylin Manson on the Antichrist Superstar tour. I was surrounded by hudreds of kid dressed in black, goth makeup, fishnet over thier arms, whatever. ( Me- Black slayer t shirt, jeans, sneakers…hell I guess I was the freak there). My point is this- Some kid was telling the local news person about how M.M. is all about being different, express yourself, blah blah. The newscaster asked the kid ,” If M.M. is all about being different, why do you all look alike?” The kid had no answer. I laughed until it hurt.
As for Head, he changed when he heard his daughter ( 8 yrs old ) singing the lyrics to ADIDAS. Maybe instead of changing his religion he should have been more aggressive as a parent.

Well when people seek change and they hit rock bottom they tend to turn to spirituality and honestly it seems that they use religion as gear of change. This isn’t a bad thing but if your going to be spiritual then I say you shouldn’t wait until they hit rock bottom because then it looks as if you waited till religion is a last resort. His daughter would have been singing that song sooner or later and as with any Korn song the lyrics can be taken the wrong way and in the case of A.D.I.D.A.S. it will always be taken the wrong way.

Oh, I almost forgot. I used to Like Manson about ten years ago but I could never dress like the hardcore fans did. The first time I saw them in person was at ozzfest 97 in VA. MM wasn’t there but there was fans, all looking like Oompah Loompahs on crack with their stockings and make-up, it was hideous but yet hysterical all at the same time.

um…thanks? I’m not too worried about my meth addiction, well because my meth addiction is non-existent. However I did allow this comment to maybe help people better understand meth and addiction to it. Plain and simple…don’t do meth!
