Just When You Thought Dave Mustaine Was All Grown Up
Dave Mustaine has been rather tame for awhile now and you all know as well as I do that no matter how much you love Megadeth and Dave, he never fails to say something so off the wall that it makes you wonder why you like him. Dave speaks his mind. Even when his mind is a bit twisted and all tangled up with his ego. In case you missed it, Blabbermouth.net posted part of a recent interview from Revolver Magazine. Here is a few questions and answers.
Revolver: How do you feel when fans say MEGADETH’s best lineup was you with drummer Nick Menza, gutiarist Marty Friedman, and bassist David Ellefson?
Mustaine: Well, they’re entitled to their opinion, totally, and if they’re talking from a music point of view, that’s understandable, because there’s only been one record so far with the new lineup. But what they have to realize is that I sang almost every single note of Marty Friedman’s guitar solos, and I wrote the majority of Nick’s drum parts, and I wrote almost every bass note that Ellefson played. It’s just a matter of these guys getting into the groove.
Revolver: How is it between you and METALLICA’s Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield since shooting “Some Kind of Monster”?
Mustaine: How’s what? I have no idea what you’re talking about. You mean as friends? Nothing. I haven’t said one syllable to them. I think it’s probably pretty disappointing, all of this. We have the same demons. We suffer from bullshit, and you don’t talk to somebody. It’s fine. And there’s enough people in the world that are tired of this story, me included. God, it’s how many years old? 30 years old?
You can read the rest of the excerpt at Blabbermouth.net. Dave goes on about Dissection’s front man talking trash about him and how he would have whipped his ass because he’s got black belts and blah, blah, blah. Dave never ceases to amaze me sometimes. Just when you think he has grown out of his egotistical shell he turns around and spews garbage like this. I can however understand him being tired of the friggin Metallica question.
The entire interview will be in next months Revolver Magazine where you can check out that and a bunch of crap about shitty bands like Avenged Sevenfold, The Used and Him. That magazine is going downhill fast…………..

“I sang almost every single note of Marty Friedman’s guitar solos”
This is total fucking bullshit!!! There is no way that dave wrote those solos. They have Marty’s signature style and note selections. Total bullshit rewrite of history. FUCK mustaine. I hate him more with each interview i read. He’s lost his mind and talent.

I have a story for you. I work as security in ft. wayne, in. (I got tired of paying $40 a show). well once dave and the boy were in town with the gigantic tour. I was backstage and I saw dave backstage. I went up to him to say how much I like his music and what a fan I was. well, low and behold, he just grunded at me, would not look at me, did not shake my hand or sign a autograph. (I had the cd cover right there). I thought you arrigant bastard. I help put you where you are( by buying there music and support at the show) and this is what I get. I enjoy his music but as for him he has the personality of a rattler snake.

He has said this before about every guitar solo on every megadeth cd, taking credit for every guitar part and solo. I hate this because Chris Poland and Marty Friendman are awesome guitar players, who cares if Dave thinks he wrote everything. He didn’t write all of Marty’s solo records. Marty’s solo records speak for themselves. Dragon Kiss, Signs, all of them are amazing. Just Dave stroking is god sized ego.

It’s obvious to anyone with a fucking pair of ears that there’s no way Mustaine wrote Marty and chris’ solos. They are two of the most distictive lead guitar players in metal. Poland has a unique jazzy flavor and Friedman … well no one sounds like him and his odd and exotic note choices. DAVE IS FULL OF SHIT!!! I love the 1st 2 megadeth albums and RIP. They are all brilliant classics, but FUCK mustaine and his lying ass. He is so washed up now anyway. He couldn’t write a decent riff if his bible-thumping ass depended on it.

what I always found fascinating id the way Marty played. The way he curled his wrist when plucking the strings and even the way he plucked the strings just looked so awkward and uncomfortable yet he did it with such great ease.
Dave is talented as well. For a singer/rhythm/lead guitar player he’s one of the best in the business…but his mouth makes him look like such a punk ass little bitch.

Agreed on both counts.
It’s a shame that as Dave’s talent wanes, his ego waxes. I mean he’s still a great performer but his songwriting and lyrical content are shit now, and his ego and asshole-attitude are at their peak.

What got me was when he say’s “I’m a legend”. I hate it when people say that kind of stuff even if it’s true. I totally agree about the lyrics and song writing. Although I think united abominations is the best CD in a long time it still can’t touch anything before cryptic writings. I say BEFORE cryptic writings because I was painfully disappointed with that record as I was Risk, The World Needs A Hero and System. All forgettable albums. Youthanasia wasn’t a bad follow up to Countdown but i think Rust In Peace and before was the high lite of Megadeth. And then dare I mention MD 45? What garbage that was. And he has the nerve to try to remix it with him singing like that was going to make the record any better. Such a waste of talent sometimes. He tries so hard to one up Metallica when all he had to do was keep on doing stuff like the old days.
