Kevin Dubrow: Talking Metal Tribute
From Balbbermouth: “The latest “almost-all-talk” episode of “Talking Metal” features a tribute to the late Kevin DuBrow of QUIET RIOT. Download and listen to the podcast at this location.
DuBrow was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday. He was 52 years old.”
A lot of people were surprised that I didn’t cover anything on his death when it happened. There is good reason. For one, I think it was plastered all over the place enough as it is and I’m not the type to jump on that wagon and cover everything about these kind of situations. Two, I respect Kevin Dubrow, but I have never looked at him as a metal icon. Sure Quiet Riot had some great metal hits back in the early 80’s, but beyond Come On Feel The Noise, and Metal Health, they really didn’t go much further and got credited for bringing metal out of the underground. I disagree, but thats just me.

1 opinion for Kevin Dubrow: Talking Metal Tribute
Dec 2, 2007 at 9:03 am
Kevin had an iconic personality, but I don’t see him as an icon. Same go’s for Dee Snyder their music was part of my youth, but i just didn’t think any of it inspired me.
I was more inspired by Scorps, Rush, Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio..These guys to me are more iconic in terms of their stage presence, music contribution and incredable skills..
I feel sad that Kevin is gone probably more cause im 45 and it drives more awareness to me of my own mortality. My Prayers go out to his family and his fans..
