Lamb Of God, Long Over-Due

by Scott on September 22nd, 2007

ashes.jpgFor the past few years I have been very reluctant to buy any Lamb Of God music. I just could never get into the vocals of it all. Randy Blythe has a style of vocals you kinda have to get used to and it has taken me awhile to get into it. The rest of the crew are phenomenal and I really dig the guitar work of both Mark Morton and Willie Adler. The rhythm changes back and forth and both guitarist compliment each other. I wish I had got into this long ago…but as usual I’m behind in the times. Thats what I love about doing this blog. It opened me up to the metal scene again. For awhile I was bored with the metal scene and stuck to what I knew and got behind on everything!

So today I stopped by a record store and picked up Lamb Of God’s 2004 release Ashes Of The Wake. This being my first LOG cd I chose it because I was familiar with Laid To Rest from Guitar Hero 2 and Now You’ve Got Something To Die For from the Headbangers Ball soundtrack. What better way to start off the CD than with Laid to rest. As of right now this is my favorite LOG song. Something to die for and Ashes are close seconds. This whole CD kicks ass and I can’t wait to find out what else I’ve been missing by this band.

Check out this months Revolver magazine for a great interview with Randy Blythe and Robert Meadows of A life Once Lost.

Ashes of the Wake is in my opnion there best release. But you should also check out Sacrement. These guys totally ruled on the Unholy Alliance Tour last year. They were even better then Slayer (hard to believe, but true).

Thanks Iz, I’ll buy that one next. That is kinda hard to believe. A live band better than Slayer? I didn’t think there was such a thing.

Oh yea…definitely Ashes of the Wake is the best of their albums, but aside from a few songs, I could never really get into them.
