Lamb Of God’s John Campbell Wants You To Fight For AM Radio Show!
In a recent myspace post by John Campbell, he explains how a local AMradio show in Richmond Virginia (The Bopst Show) that broadcasted worldwide and on the internet has been shut down. Here’s is what he has to say:
Tags: Chris Bopst, Lamb Of God, The Bopst Show, wclm RADIOHey kiddies! This is your absolute favorite bass player, JC, checking in. You doing alright? The weekend went well?? I’m doing great and my weekend was amazing, thanks for asking! And speaking of asking, I got a huge favor to ask ALL of you.
We have recently lost an amazing AM radio program here in the cultural mecca of Richmond, Va due to nonsense politics. I dunno if any of you guys read the liner notes in our records, but I shamelessly plugged the show in my thankyou list on “Sacrament”. I listened all the time, whether i’m in town or not, thanks to the interwebs broadcasting.
The favor I need to ask is that you help with a little psychological warfare by calling the station and asking what happened to the Bopst (Beau-psst) Show. Don’t need any convincing? Here’s the numbers:
Studio line: (804) 231-7685
Office: (804) 231-2186 or (804) 231-0123Need convincing? Here’s some words and background on the more-than-deserving of your support, Mr. Bopst:

Chris is not going to be back on the station, regardless of you helping their phones to melt in their cradles. This is just an opportunity for you, the average citizen, to help with a psychological “F-U” in the name of all that is good, pure and worthwhile. Quick, go hop in the phone booth and change into your superhero outfit and go out to fight for truth and justice! Alright, leave the dressing up in tights and a cape for the goofballs amongst you, but the rest of you go ahead and start calling!! Post a transcript of your calls on our message board:

Thanks for your help! Remember that this show was available WORLDWIDE on the internet, so location is not important as long as the call is free! Eternally grateful,
-JC

Damn, that’s pretty cool of John Campbell. Although I never listened to the show, I may end up calling just to find out what’s up and to get my voice heard, along with all the others.

Chris Bopst and the Bopst Show was a musical gift to this world. It is such bullshit that he got shafted like this after he single handedly put that shitty little gospel station on the map with his wit, knowledge, humor and love of music. He ran their website, increased their listening audience exponentially and pounded the pavement for his own ads which in turn made THEM money and in the long run was only offered the meal time night slot when NO ONE is listening to the radio, just so they can make room for Kirby “Electric Slide” Carmichael. I have always considered myself a music lover and listen to a HUGE variety, and I have Chris Bopst to thank for that. He has introduced me to so many different artists that I otherwise never would have heard of and I know he has done the same for so many other people. I am lucky and get to see Chris everyday at his other job and he still delights us with his wide array of music every night as he always has his Ipod ready to go with new stuff none of us have ever heard. It is sad that the whole world doesn’t get to share in the joy anymore. I am personally boycotting WCLM 1450 and hope that all of you will too. Shame on Preston and the WCLM “family” as they call it. Shame on them for losing the greatest radio voice this city has ever or will ever see.

Thanks for the comment, Millie.
You have a nice looking restaurant with a good looking menu. If ever I make my way up to Richmond I’ll be sure to stop in for some of that grilled octopus and braised lamb.
