Learn To Play Guitar Hero Songs…For Real

I just bought my son and Xbox 360 and Guitar Hero World Tour the other day for Christmas. It sits hidden in the closet while I try to restrain myself from pulling it out, putting it together and giving it a try while he’s at school. The best thing about the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games besides the fact that they are a blast to play is that they get kids interested in music and bands of the past and present. Sometimes it even gets them interested in learning a real instrument.
So what would be better than buying them a guitar (If they are totally interested),teaching them tablature if you know how and buying them a couple of books with tab transcriptions of songs from the game?
Hal Leonard music books doesn’t only offer Guitar Hero Tab but Rock Band Tab as well. You can pick these up at Amazon.com for $24.95 or less, each. There are various guitar tab websites where you can also learn tablature for probably all of these songs as well as online lessons, practice tab and downloads for GuitarPro, which is a great guitar tablature reading and writing software.
The best place I found for tab that has not been taken down is Ultimate-Guitar.com. If you are one of your children has an interest in learning to play guitar, Ultimate Guitar is a great resource.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are surprisingly great for getting people interested in learning the real things. Personally, I’ve discovered a few great bands from playing these games, and since then have learned a number of them on real guitar.
and wish I could get GH:WT too…sadly I’m broke as hell at the moment
I have grown up with music all around me but it wasn’t until Guitar Hero that I started caring about how to actually play guitar.

Apparently these have been out for awhile. I think that it’s great that they are offering a way for people and/or kids a way to learn the real songs.
I’m so stoked to play GH4, but I have to wait until Christmas.
