Marty Friedman New Project…Lovefixer

August 26, 2008 by Scott

I’ve always liked Marty Friedman’s guitar work in Megadeth. For one, he is amazing at what he does, and two, the way he picks is really weird, it’s like a plucking more than a picking. But he makes it look so easy and flawless. So when I read that he had a new side project, I was excited. With such great solo albums such as Dragon Kiss, Introduction, Scene, and True Obsession, I thought that this might be something cool. Unfortunately I don’t speak Japanese and it seems that this is a Japanese rock act. Oh well, Guess I can stick to the old Megadeth and solo albums. Check out Lovefixer below…and try not to laugh. Just try.

  1. Marty Friedman’s such a great guy. His playing is really diverse too and so anything that he does, I’m totally game for. His work on Cacophony with Jason Becker is phenomenal. You’re right, he does pick really funny. Although he favors upstrokes and I must say that I’ve always played that way.

Do you have a favorite MegaDeth album?

Peace Sells… will always be my favorite, but if I had to pick one with Freidman, it would be Rust in peace. Yeah, he’s amazing and has that pluck/upstroke that is really strange and every time I see it, it baffles me.

Marty became very popular “gaijin” in Japan.
Even non-Metal people is familiar with him,
he’s well known as metal musician who speaks funny Japanese.

This is my favorite of his work.

He is the icon of japanese “metal” scene in these three years.
(well in fact, employment ad of the steel and iron industry…)
That copy means “Metal is cool!”

Unfortunatley he’s addicted to J-POP now and
is working energetically with such kind of singers. sigh.

I’ve heard that as well (The j-pop thing), Kayjpn. I knew a long time ago that his wife (x-now) was Japanese and that he lived there.

ON another note, I spent a year in Korea in the US Army, but I never got to see Japan when I was with the Marines though. Anyway, I was riding in a cab and the korean cab driver was humming along to the radio and I was like “I know that song!” It was escapism from the Introduction album. I was really surprised to hear that on a Korean radio.
