More Mayhem Fest | Black Tide

Alright. Vacation is over and I’m back home. Aside from going to the biggest concert I’ve been to in over 10 years, the rest of the weekend was a great time as well as the family and I went to the beach, the zoo, the aquarium and a Naval museum (No it’s not a museum of belly buttons). Just a word of advice for anyone planning a vacation and looking for hotels online. Check out Hotwire.com. I got a room to sleep myself, my wife and kids in Norfolk, VA for 88 bucks a night at a Sheraton. It’s a 3 star hotel according to Hotwire, but it’s nice and that’s about 100 bucks less a night than you wood pay at expedia.com. Anyway, enough about that. Let’s get to some concert coverage.
Black Tide was the first band up on the Hot Topic stage and as usual they put on a great show. I noticed a new guitar player when taking the pictures and was later told by Zach Sandler, the bass player that Alex Nunez was replaced and he simply said because of differences. Although I was curious I didn’t pry and try to find out exactly what differences because what difference does it make.
Zach also remembered me from the Charlotte show when I interviewed them and I thought that was really cool. He seems to be the one
with the most energy and out-going personality (by that I mean he’s not as shy as the rest seem to be). They played a great cover of Metallica’s Hit The Lights and I think the crowd would have liked them more had they not been the very first band. You’ve got to hand it to these guys. Right out of the gate they are thrown into Ozfest last year and then went on tour promoting their album with All That Remains among others and now Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest. That’s a lot of go-go-go for a first time run in the big leagues.
