OSR…Kinda |Bullet For My Valentine: The Poison
February 5, 2008 by Scott
Against my better judgment and suggestions from people, I bought Bullet For My Valentines The Poison. Now I can’t judge their new record because I haven’t heard it. But if it is anything like The Poison then I don’t want to hear it. This was poison to my ears. When it started out I was kinda diggin the guitars and the beats and then they started singing. The scream isn’t bad but the singing sounds just boring, stock, and poppish. I couldn’t get past the 4th song, in fact the best part of this CD is the intro.
I really should have spent my money on an old Testament CD or something. Oh well. I guess I’ll just ad The Poison to my disappointment collection.
I know I’ve done some promo stuff for this band but I have to be brutally honest sometimes and now is one of those times. Like I said, I haven’t heard the new CD and who knows? I might like it. I didn’t like the singing on Trivium’s Ascendancy but I like the singing on The Crusade. When it comes to a good band I’m very picky about the vocals. The Poison just doesn’t do it for me.

Er, you’ll probably want to skip the new album then. The kids will love it, but anyone who knows and loves old-school thrash and metal will hear it as gutless pop.
It’s not that I don;t like clean singing in with screaming. God knows I like ATR, KSE, and other…just something about the vocals I don’t like.
Scream aim fire gets more deeper.
The Poison was good for me imo. some of the singing wasnt to good but i still enjoyed most of it.
Haha! “Poison to my ears.” I couldn’t agree more…
