Los Angeles-based band THE FUNERAL PYRE will hit the road in January for a West Coast Tour alongside Seattle’s Book of Black Earth. Starting in Seattle in early January, the package will head down to California before wrapping up. Currently writing new material for a forthcoming new album, THE FUNERAL PYRE will showcase a new song on the road alongside songs from the band’s latest effort, ‘The Nature of Betrayal,’ which saw a March re-release through Prosthetic after a distribution deal with Creator Destructor records.

“We are finishing songs, playing them live and fine tuning what will be the 3rd installment in the Funeral Pyre career of metal,” the band wrote recently on its blog (http://thefuneralpyre666.blogspot.com/). “It’s been a long time already, to think that we’re already on our 3rd record!? Nobody would have ever guessed we’d be here. I mean, we’re not popular or anything, but hey, I like to think that we’ve accomplished a lot! If you have heard any of the new songs live, I’d really enjoy if you could give us some feedback about what you thought of them. These songs will be different than ‘The Nature Of Betrayal‘ but yet the same…It’s a big cycle we go through, you hear the same music, but it sounds different. How does that work? I’m not quite sure, but you will find out in 2008.”

“Melding grizzly death metal growls and ear-piercing black metal screeches with eddying keyboard harmonies has been done before, and has absolutely no reason to sound this fresh. But it does. And with deep, operatic production and interesting lyrics throughout, there’s always something going on…The Funeral Pyre provide us with a terrifyingly coherent record that indicates there may be some amazing things ahead for this band.” - Kerrang magagzine

“TFP magick up a shimmering storm of piano- and keyboard-augmented blackcore that’s at its most succulent when tempos slow down and they roll out the rallentados. By ‘Plauge That Leads to Extinction’ and especially the mournful ‘Stealing the Air of Life,’ they’ve made you forget whatever childish prejudicees you might have against bands with keyboards…” - Decibel magazine

“Every song on their Prosthetic debut delivers a distinctly Euro-inflected combination of black and death metal, and does so with icy ferocity.” - Revolver magazine

“The general rip factor on several songs is what reminds to some extent of Swedish melodic death metal, and even bits and pieces of what is heard from The Black Dahlia Murder.” - Blabbermouth
