Prosthetic Records Sign Landmine Marathon
February 20, 2009 by Scott
What I like about Prosthetic Records is that they aren’t signing every death/metalcore band that comes along. They aren’t trying to push the trendy bands on to the scene at every turn like other labels are. Sure they may be responsible for getting bands like Lamb Of God and All That Remains off the ground but Prosthetic is only where those bands got their start to become what they are today. They also have bands like Skeletonwitch, Withered and Gojira, all of which are kind of “Outside of the box” bands and don’t get nearly enough credit. I’m not saying that without Prosthetic those bands would not have made it, I’m just saying that these aren’t exactly the type of bands that everyone is trying to market…but they should be.
Prosthetics news acquisition is Phoenix, Arizona’s Landmine Marathon. I’m not completely familiar with this band yet. I’ve heard the name a few times and just today had a chance to sample some tracks on their myspace. I haven’t had a chance to completely absorb Landmine Marathon’s sound yet, but they are pretty much as everyone is describing them; a death metal band with grind influence. Anytime you see a metal band fronted by a woman you have to wonder what she will sound like and how she may compare to other women in metal.Front-woman, Grace Perry can scream her cute little ass off with the best of them. I’ll definitely be looking deeper in to this band.
You can check out some of their work on Myspace as well as read a review on Lambgoat and an in depth article on the band in The Phoenix New Times.
