Saxon’s Biff Byford Interviewed By Metal Express Radio
Metalexpressradio.com recently interviewed Biff Byford, the old-ass dude from British metal band Saxon. Ok, so the guy is only 57 and other rockers may still be going at an older age, but this dude looks older than 57. Who cares.? Anyway, he talks about the future of Saxon and their 2007 release, Inner Sanctum.
Metal Express Radio: Certainly from SAXON’s point of view you seem to be going through something of a renaissance. Your last album, “The Inner Sanctum”, was universally hailed as your best in years. What is it that reinvigorated you as a band?
Byford: “Well, we’re working on it. It’s good as there’s a lot of people behind us, a lot of magazines and media so it helps. We’re working really hard and we have been doing since our ‘Lionheart’ album was released. I think our latest, ‘The Inner Sanctum’ is a great album and we’ll be hard pushed to beat that one. That album got fantastic reviews; I don’t think there’s a bad song or a filler on that album. I think it came out just at the right time.”

The author calls him old. I’ll tell you that it’s his heart that is still 23 years old. Biff’s voice is more powerful now, as of May 2009 and ” Into The Labyrinth” has been put out. There’s now denying the people age. All the still popular bands are into those age groups. Biff can IMHO still sing better than the younger singers. He’s special. I think thats the best reason for the big time surge in Saxon’s popularity again.
