Sepultura Reunion A Possibility!?!
In a recent interview Max Cavelera mentioned that a Sepultura reunion is not impossible. Honestly, that would be one of the coolest things to happen in metal in a long time. Think about it. The members of Judas Priest swallowed their pride, buried the hatchet and made a pretty damn good record when they reunited with Rob Halford. Angel Of Retribution was and is a great ‘Priest recording. The band sounds modernized without breaking away from the classic priest roots and Halford’s voice could not be better. Priest put on a hell of a show! Yeah Rob Halford is gay, but who cares? I think he’s the coolest gay musician that I can think of, and you don;t know what other metal musicians that have not come out of the closet that you may idolize.
Now back to the Brazilian beasts! Sure if they have a reunion the shows are going to be unbelievable! A record would hopefully be in the works but I doubt if it will sound like Sepultura at their peak. When I say Sepultura at their peak I mean the “Arise” and “Chaos” era. Roots Bloody Roots was a cool but not one of my favorites. I sincerely hope that Max and Andreas can put the past aside and get back together if only for a reunion tour. That would make me a happy head-banging bastard! Maiden did it…why can’t Sepultura. Come one, Max. Pick up that phone, give them a call. If you can get back with your brother after all these years, then you can get back with old friends and make a million fans happy!
Below is the interview where Max mentions the possibilities of a reunion curtosy of Blabbermouth.net. Enjoy.
When asked if he would be willing to reconnect with the SEPULTURA members Andreas Kisser (guitar) and Paul Xisto Pinto Jr. (bass) if they tried to reach out to him after all these years of not talking to each other, Max said, “I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I think that maybe I should do that with them like Igor did with me — just call them [out of the blue one day] and surprise them. Maybe that’s the real way to fix the things between SEPULTURA and maybe there’ll be some kind of cool reunion… put all the bullshit aside. Let’s see [what happens]… because, you know, I regard Andreas and Paulo and Igor as more than just friends. Igor is my brother, but Andreas and Paulo are very close and they share very big, strong moments with me that many people have not shared.”
