Slayer Book Reign In Blood Due in April
As reported by Blabbermouth.net:
Continuum Books has set an April 15, 2005 release date for SLAYER’s “Reign in Blood (33 1/3)”, a book about the classic 1986 album from the Los Angeles-based thrashers.
To pre-order the book, visit Amazon.com.
The 33 1/3 series are low-priced, pocket-sized books. Each is about or inspired by a classic album. They range from rock and roll’s foundations to modern classics. Previous books have explored records by PINK FLOYD, DJ SHADOW, THE KINKS, SONIC YOUTH, VELVET UNDERGROUND, RADIOHEAD, BEASTIE BOYS, and many others.
“33 1/3: Reign in Blood” was written by D.X. Ferris, a regular contributor to Cleveland Scene, Alternative Press, and the Village Voice Media chain of alternative newsweeklies.
“For my money, ‘Reign in Blood’ is the best metal album, by the best metal band,” says Ferris. “But I’m a thrash guy, so take that for what it’s worth. MAIDEN rules, too.”

I will take shit for this, but in all truth why should I want to read about Reign in Blood?? Hmmm, let me try to summarise (sp?)- “we were young, Hell Awaits tour had ended, we wanted to be the hardest ever, we argued, we wrote, who knew it would be come what it is today.” Don’t get me wrong, I love the album, but does anyone seriously think there will be any wild and incredible revalations here? Not I.

I would rather read a book on the history from beginning to present.
Someone on Blabbermouth made a ballsy statement as well saying that Reign In Blood is over rated. While I like reign in blood I had to agree. It is over rated and I don’t think that South Of Heaven gets enough credit. Sure Reign In Blood was Hard Fast and Heavy…but the only reason most people can sit through the whole CD is because it’s only about 27 minutes long. Lets be truthful First song and last song hold everything in between together. I’m sure I’m going to get some shit for saying this stuff as well…but screw it, sometimes the truth hurts.

I was at the tour where Slayer’s encore was all of Reign in Blood from start to finish. And to tell you the truth, I yawned several times during the encore. All the songs in the middle do sort of blur into one long speed metal tune. I prefer Seasons in the Abyss.

Thanks for linking my to blog, Scott. I haven’t read that book yet, but it sounds interesting. I might take a look. It seems to be very cheap in Amazon. You know, here in Finland everything is expensive, even books. That’s why I order all books from Amazon.
Guys, do you know if there is a book of Pantera? I’d like to read but I haven’t found any.

there is a book out there about the murder of dimebag. I thinks it’s called “A Vulgar Display Of Power” It’s written by some schmuck that talked a bunch of shit about dimebag and Pantera before the murder so I don;t think I want to read it.
