Slayer Psychopathy Red Song Demo

October 29, 2008 by Scott

Slayer have been working in the studio before heading out on the Unholy Alliance Tour III last monday in Europe with Mastodon, Trivium and Amon Amarth. The new demo track Pychopathy Red is NOT cd quality, obviously but should be on their forthcoming release in 2009. Sounds pretty cool so far and will probably sound awesome once it’s totally cleaned up and mastered. (Alright, let’s be honest. Once it really kicks in it sounds like a lot of other Slayer songs.) Jeff Hannemen wrote the song and it’s said to be about a notorious Russian serial killer named Andrei Chikatilo, The Butcher Of Rostov. Read the wikipedia story on him. It’s pretty interesting.

Hopefully this next album will be better that Christ Illusion. I liked Christ Illusion but it left me wanting it to be much better. There is just something about the way Tom Araya sings these days that is not as good as it used to be. There used to be more variety and range to his voice. These days it seems like a very monotone scream that just doesn’t go over as well as some of the older songs.
