Slipknot – Psychosocial

As usual I am behind on things. Slipknot’s new single ‘Psychosocial’ came out on Tuesday and I can’t seem to figure out where to download (legally) it so I had to find it on Youtube to listen to it streaming. The single ‘All Hope Is Gone’ was pretty cool. Heavy as expected with everything the nu-metal haters like to bitch about. I honestly don’t think this album can be bad. I’ve liked every album they have released so far. Mate-Feed-Kill-Repeat leaves a bit to be desired and if anyone ever says that that was their best release they only say that because it makes them feel like they are the most hardcore fans of all things underground. The production value of that cd was crap and that is the reason why most of the songs have been re-done on other albums. When your resources are limited then you have to do with what you have and when you have the chance to make those things better down the road, then you take advantage of those opportunities. So what do I have to say about Psychosocial? It’s a bit different from anything on Vol. 3. The lyrics and vocals through the first verse just don’t seem to grasp you at first. Kind of like All Hope Is Gone. The first verse of that I wasn’t really diggin, but then it quickly grows on you. Psychosocial will throw you for a loop when the first chorus kicks in and it has a more Stone Sour sounding chorus. No big deal to me, I like Stone Sour as well, but it almost sounds like it doesn’t fit at first. the second verse hits and I was pretty much hooked. The second verse flows a lot better and when the chorus hits for the second time I find it much better than the first time around and a killer solo to follow. Corey Taylor’s voice sounds deep and rough, and I think it will sound great on the rest of the record as well. I’m going to say what everyone else is saying. These are the first two singles off of the album and if they are the worst two songs then I think we have something great to look forward to in August.
yes, as stated before, love the pinch harmonics and slipknot has always had some of the best drums. way to stay on top -log (sure hope i get that dvd)
yes, I love the song psychosocial, but in my opinion I think that the instrumental part is all slipknot, but the screaming parts of the lyrics is also slipknot, and where Cory is actually singing that’s more stone sour, but don’t get me wrong I like stone sour just as must as I like slipknot, I mean I got every slipknot album that’s came out as well as stone sours, and I hope to be able to get the new slipknot album that’s coming out. I cant wait.
