Soulfly 3

by Scott on May 15th, 2008

soulfly3.jpgI picked Soulfly 3 up yesterday at the same record store that  bought the xDEATHSTARx at. I think it’s quite clear that the selections there were few and far between. Anyway, I was hoping it would be cool since I haven’t bought any Soulfly records since their first. All I have to say is…ok. It’s a rather strange album to say the least. one track 9-11-01 is nothing but 32 seconds of silence. Guess it was a clever way have taking a moment of silence for 9-11. The rest of the album is kind of strange as well. I’m not really impressed. It was either Soulfly 3 or Primative. Anyone have any suggestions or comments about Primative or is that as big of a waste as 3?

Primative was actually a pretty decent album, IMO. It had a lot of the same Cavalera war drums and what not, but that’s his trademark… it had plenty of heaviness and aggression, I enjoyed it.

yeah i bought this album when it first came out and i think is a waste, couple of good songs and thats about it. I guess i was more into a lot of hardcore music at the time.Do you have any Blood has Been Shed or Since the Flood cds?

No on both of those. I’ve wanted to check out Blood Has Been Shed because I like Howard Jones but I can’t seem to find any in the stores.

The first few songs on Soulfly 3 are ok but it all gets a bit weird after that.

Primative is way better then soulfly 3 but neither is anywhere near as good as the first album. Prophecy was a very good album if you want to pick up some later Soulfly stuff.

IZZY!!! I was wondering if you were still alive! I’ll try to give both a listen sometime.

I really liked the first Soulfly when it came out but I just can’t seem to get into it anymore. I wish they did more stuff like Nailbomb.
