Straight Line Stitch – Black Veil Video

Straight Line Stitch’s new video for Black Veil is a lot better video and song than the first one that I saw, which was Remission. I saw this on Headbanger’s Ball last night and when it started I though “oh Christ, another crappy song/video from this band.” After the last video that ran on the Headbanger’s Ball “Remission” and I didn’t like it. The vocals just didn’t mix well with the screams going to cleans. It was just weird.
Black Veil is much better than Remission but I’m still can’t bring myself to be interested in this band…just don’t know why. Check out the Black Veil Video and after the fold is the Remission Video. Compare and let me know what you think.

Loved Black Veil – the other one had weaker lyrics. Wow – pretty awesome!
God that’s bad music. The first video was well put together though. And yeah, the way the vocals are done just doesn’t work…
I love black veil, the women can scream and she is HOT!!!, but remission i didn’t like, the vocals are in wrong spots and not enough screaming for me
I hear you Volcom. That exactly what I think. Vocals are all over the place and it just doesn’t fit. Black veil is much better in my opiniion
it might just be me but i kind of see music videos as a anti-metal medium. it seems more like a rap thing.. . like i said its probably just me –log
I personally love both songs.
I prefer the screaming verses followed by singing chorus. I found a nice cozy spot under this setup.
I just watched both videos (saw Remission a while ago) and to be honest, these two songs sound like two totally different bands! I hated Remission from the first time I saw it on MTV. I actually got depressed when I saw that for the first time! The band sounded extremely bland and the vocals were beyond awful to the point where it was actually funny and sad all at the same time. Black Veil is actually 10000000 times better though. The song sounds heavy and the vocals sound very powerful. However, I still think it sucks and it is not even close to something I would listen to. I’m not sure if these two songs are on the same album but if this is what their debut is all about then I’ll definitely pass.
I like Black Veil much better than Remission as well. I think she does a great job screaming and yes she is hot and black! You dont see very many black women in metal and im glad that that is slowly changing. I am a black woman and have been in love with metal for a long time.
I do hope that with time, the band does improve. I dont really like either video but i like the song and i bought the cd and most of the songs are actually good. I have a wide variety of taste when it comes to music too. I hope to hear and see more from this band as it grows into perfection.
Agreed, Giles. I don’t want to say that music videos = selling out, but certainly they have that sort of connotation. Oftentimes it’s not the band that sells out, but the pressure to release a video that causes them to. Am I upset that Skeletonwitch is releasing a video? Absolutely not, and Skeletonwitch is about as awesome as metal comes these days – hopefully the video will bring them more exposure – but I do find something inherently un-metal about videos. But then again, as long as the metal’s getting out there, that’s all that really matters.
Oh, and pardon me for the double-post, but I agree completely. Remission was meh, but I like Black Veil a lot, it’s great.
I’m still waiting on this Skeletonwitch video that was supposed to premiere today.
