Contest: Win Blaggards CD and T-Shirt

There is no shortage of great music here in Austin, TX. Pretty much anytime I want, I can go downtown and find a great live show. Last week, I was lucky enough to end up at a great Irish pub called Fadó. The band that was playing that night was called Blaggards from Houston, TX, and my Irish blood warmed quickly to the thought of listening to a nice, mellow Celtic traditional band.

Boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise.

Scrap Metal Report 2/3/09

A quick run down of some things in the news today. Some are a big deal, others are not so much.
Lamb Of God: Wrath leaked a few days ago. Chances are if you download it, you will probably still buy it when it comes out…unless you absolutely hate it or you’re just a cheap bastard. I kind of have some mixed feelings on it after 3 listens. I’m not saying I downloaded it, I’m just saying.
AC/DC were said to be playing Wrestlmania 25. Now it’s said that they’re not. Either way I could really care less.

Metal Shavings, Mourning Edition

Mourning edition? Yeah, I don’t know. It looked a lot cooler when I typed it up like that. Anyway, I took a day off from work so I’m going to be doing some updates throughout the day with some and I there is a lot of news to cover so instead of stretching it out I thought I would lump most of it in one shot and work on some reviews in between as well as work on some stuff over at The Rock Dose. That page needs some traffic badly so I have to take a little attention away …read more

Kill ‘Em All | 25 Years Later

Holy Crap! I was on my way home from work and I got tired of the new Children Of Bodom CD and decided to put Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All on starting with Seek And Destroy because I’ve been trying to learn it all the way through on guitar. I forgot how brilliant of a record this was for it’s time. It still is, what the hell am I saying. It still hasn’t lost it’s luster after a quarter century. A 1/4 F’n CENTURY!

Metal Shavings 1/4, Year End In Review

Holy crap, 2008 is here already. Where does the time go. Another year another year older my decrepit ass is. 2007 was a fun filled roller-coaster of madness, but here we are. It’s time for a whole new shitty year. A new president will be elected, “W” will finally be out and we can look forward to a whole new screwed up situation come ‘09. Speaking of…I’m about tired of hearing the word Caucus. Anyway, time to unload the garbage…
