The Sword kicked off their tour yesterday in Fort Worth Texas. There tour will take them across the country to include crossing the northern border and eventually taking them to the UK. They will be supporting Metallica and Lamb Of God on some of these dates as well as headlining some of their own.

Since discovering these guys through Guitar Hero, as so many others did, I’ve really come to dig The Sword. Freya was only a glimpse at the talent that this band possess. Although not as many songs on Age Of Winters are as memorable as Freya or some of the songs on Gods Of The Earth, they still rock it out in an old-school fashion and absolutely kill it live. You may have noticed that not a whole lot was going on here at Metal Martyr yesterday. There was good reason. I went to see The Sword last night in Raleigh, NC. Let me tell you, if your a fan of The Sword and you have not went to a live show yet, GET THERE!

The Sword’s new single Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians from their upcoming release Gods Of The Earth is available via Kemodo Records. A title not quite as long as Nile’s Papyrus, but close. Gods of the Earth is scheduled for an April 1st release date and is the follow up album to 2006’s Age Of Winters.
