Century Media To Release Arch Enemy Best Of Compilation
March 5, 2009 by Scott
Arch Enemy is a band that I still haven’t fully embraced yet. I bought Rise Of The Tyrant a short while back but I think I’ve only listened to it a couple of times and that was when I first got it. The Amotts are clearly awesome guitar players and overall the music is heavy as hell, but I think it’s the vocals that I’m not quite used to. Maybe it’s Angela’s voice or the way she growls I don’t know. I’m listening to it right now and maybe it’s just the fact that I just haven’t given it …read more
Interview Exclusive: Opeth’s Fredrik Akesson
November 3, 2008 by Scott
So before the Opeth show I had a chance to sit down with Fredrik Akesson currently of Opeth and formerly of Arch Enemy. Really cool guy and a great guitar player. My interview was scheduled for 5:30 to 5:45 so I left the hosue about 4:30 because it takes about a half hour to get to the venue. I didn’t take in to account that it was Friday and traffic along the 440 belt-line in central NC was going to be busy. I called Jimmy, the tour manager about 10 minutes before my interview and told him I was …read more

Carcass Wrap Up North American Reunion Tour
Reformed melo-death/gore-grind legends CARCASS recently completed their first North American tour since first reanimating early this year. Guitarist Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY) commented on what their recent touring experience was like:
"What a tour! So many sold-out shows and fantastic, bordering on fanatical response from the fans everywhere we went! I’d like to thank the fans in the US/CANADA/MEXICO for waiting patiently and remaining fans all these years – and for coming out in such big numbers on the tour. For me personally it’s been quite emotional playing THOSE songs with THOSE guys again – really cool …read more
Mike Amott Signs On With Dean Guitars
October 1, 2008 by Scott
Is it me or did Dimebag’s death start a flood of bigger named musicians signing to Dean? Or maybe some just had to wait to get out of their current contracts. Their list of endorsees is getting longer by the minute.
Arch Enemy/Carcass guitarist Mike Amott has just signed with Dean Guitars. I saw him playing a Michael Schenker model V during the tour but I thought that perhaps it was just something he was fond of because I have heard that he’s a Schenker fan. I always liked his ESP Ninja but didn’t care for that Washburn model because …read more
Arch Enemy Re-Recording Older Material
This news comes just a day after I bought Rise Of The Tyrant. I’ve been contemplating buying this CD for awhile now but I haven’t liked Angela Gassow’s voice in the past, but it’s hard not to listen to when the rest of the music is just filled with pure ass-kickery! Besides that fact that I have started like a lot of vocal styles that I haven’t in the past and that’s opening up a lot of different things in my musical taste for metal. Check out what Mike Amott had to say about the re-recordings to BW&BK writer …read more

Carcass Comment On US Reunion Tour
June 25, 2008 by Scott
The following is re-posted from Nuclear Blast Newsletter. I highly doubt if The Carcass Reunion show will come down my way, but if they do I’m sure to make my way to see them. Also a shame about Ken Owen (See Below). I hope he can make a full recovery just for the sake of himself.
As recently leaked, UK Death/Grind/Melo-death metal legends, CARCASS, will be performing at the Nokia Theatre in New York City on September 6, 2008. The show will also include 3 soon to be announced special guests in addition to NECROPHAGIST and ABORTED. Always a cut up …read more
