It’s rumored that a few bands on the 2009 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest roster may be Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Trivium and Behemoth. Not to bad to start with if these rumors are true. We’ll have to wait and see.

The scrap metal report this morning said that Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine might be on 2009’s Gigantour. Metal Underground “Confirmed” that the rumors are true and those are only two bands to be on that tour. I really don;t know what Dave Mustaine is trying to prove with those bands on tour. Maybe he’s trying to attract a different crowd to Megadeth or maybe he’s trying to boost ticket sales. I’ll keep you updated on this because I’d like to hear Dave’s reasoning behind this.. Who’s next, Fall Out Boy?

This time of year there is never a surplus of time for anyone. Besides the snail speed flow of report worthy metal news this week, time just hasn’t been on my side. To keep things short, here are some significant things that went on the Metal since Friday.

• Machine Head’s Phil Demmel collapsed on stage again on Friday. This is the third time it’s happened and the second time it’s happened this year. Machine head has canceled the last tow shows on this leg of their tour and will be heading back top the states. Phil suffers from a rare heart condition called Cardiogenic Syncope. Wish him well as Machine Head will be heading back out on tour on Wednesday with Metallica and The Sword.
• Lacuna Coil has revealed the name of their next album as “Shallow Life” which will come out some time in 2009. For the record I, like many others still find Christina Scabbia extremely sexy.
• Chimaira is in the mixing stage of their follow up to Resurrection. I still haven’t heard of a release date for this yet.
• Job For A Cowboy parts way with guitarist Ravi Bhadriraju just as they’re are getting ready to hit the recording studio. No word a yet who will replace Bhadri…Bhadrij…Bhadji…him.
• Haste The Day has lost their drummer. Devin Chaulk has decided to move on after 8 years with the band and pursue active ministry with his family.
• Say It Ain’t So, Dave…Rumors are starting to flow over the net that the next run for Megadeth’s Gigantour will have bands on the bill such as Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine. I’ve never been to a Gigantour and unless it swings by my way I probably won’t go to one anytime soon. With that said I still feel for anyone that wants to go to see Megadave play and has to sit through those two bands. Let’s just hope that it’s a bad rumor. Hit up the Megadeth Forums and beg and plead with Dave not to let this travesty happen!

Avenged Sevenfold has canceled their remaining U.S. tour, citing problems with M. Shadows vocals. Fortunately for him and not us, they say they can continue the tour, starting in Japan in October. Shadows stated:

“I feel as if I’m letting so many people down, especially the fans we were supposed to see this month, but after a little rest it’ll be back to the usual craziness everyone expects of A7X. All of us are so excited about going out with BUCKCHERRY in November; our fans will love them as well as SHINEDOWN and SAVING ABEL.”

on another note for the fans of A7X, they recently released their live DVD Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough, filmed back on April 7th in Long Beach California during the Taste Of Chaos tour.

On an episode of Talking Metal on Fuse, the Talking Metal guys along with members of In This Moment did a cover of I’m Broken, another great Pantera tune. I don’t know the singers name, nor do I care because I can’t stand her voice, but everything sounded great…except HER!. The back up singer did a better job singing it than her. Prosthetic Records signs Southern California’s ANTAGONIST

Prosthetic Records is pleased to announce the signing of Southern California metal band ANTAGONIST. Earning their keep in the local and national scene since 1998, and with two prior full-lengths to their credit, ANTAGONIST has already logged time hit the road with the likes of Light This City, The Faceless, Winds of Plague, Silent Civilian, and fellow SoCal metallers The Funeral Pyre, among others.

The band’s Prosthetic Records debut, set to be titled ‘Exist,’ will be produced by Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, The Confession, Deftones), and is the follow-up to ‘An Envy of Innocence,’ which saw a 2006 release via Dwell Records. Tentatively slated for a summer 2008 release, ‘Exist’ will be recorded starting March 1. “We’re very happy and excited to finally announce our signing with Prosthetic!” guitarist/vocalist Carlos Garcia says. “These guys have treated us like family since day one and they really believe in the music we’re making. We’re all very anxious to enter the studio and even more pumped to get out on the road and play all the new shit for everyone.” In addition, the band has issued a video statement in reaction to the deal here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roozXijOlHM).

Why Do You Hate:…

Killswitch Engage? Sure some of them have kinda cheezy stage antics but the sound is great and diverse…perhaps it’s not evil enough for some metal heads?
Slipknot? Yeah..I know why…because it’s Nu Metal and all Nu Metal Sucks right? I agree that a lot of it does…but I really dig this bands sound. Would it make a difference if they didn’t wear masks and jumpsuits?
Hatebreed? Unless you’re just not into hardcore. Jasta and crew bring it heavy and straight forward.
Divine Heresy? Dino’s new crew has a bit of a FF sound but Do you expect Dino to change the way he plays or the sound of his gear? Besides, FF hasn’t put out a decent album since Demanufacture so why not?
Trivium? Matt Heafy and the boys are amazing talents. I love the guitar work from these guys but was never big on the vocal points until The Crusade. The Crusade was the record that people started calling them “Metallica” clones because Matts vocals kinda sound like a young James Hetfield. I say as long as they don’t sound like a new James-AH Hetfield-AH! then sing on.

Ok, so now it’s my turn…

Him? It’s not so much the music that I hate, it’s the fact that they keep calling it metal and how much Vile acts like a little Diva bitch.
Avenged Sevenfold? Once again it’s because they keep calling this shit metal. These guys don;t know what they want to be. Metal, punk? they just don’t know. They plaster themselves with tats and eyeliner to try to fit an image. I don’t know what the deal is but don’t like it.
Papa Roach? I bought a Papa Roach CD once. $13.99 of my hard earned cash I’ll never get back and 10 minutes of my life that I never want to remember. These guys are the kings of a mediocre single and a shitload of fillers.
Cradle Of Filth? I’m a huge Misfits fan and they did a horrid cover of Halloween on the Underworld 2 soundtrack…and I don’t really like black metal so that pretty much sums it up.
DragonForce? While I feel they are extremely talented, this music annoys the hell out of me.

Throw some other band names in too. Why do you hate _______?
