Skeletonwitch Get Their Fix With Metal Injection

Skeletonwitch is one of those killer bands that tours their asses off but still manages to go under the radar. I can’t see their music going full blown mainstream for the fact that it won’t appeal to scene kids as much as it does…the rest of us. Their last release Beyond The Permafrost came out in mid 2007 and the band has been on the road constantly in support of it. Rob from Metal Injection caught up with the band in their latest episode of “The Fix” where the band talked about their favorite metal videos.

SKELETONWITCH to tour alongside Job For A Cowboy, The Red Chord

Hot off returning home from the Dying Fetus / Cephalic Carnage tour alongside labelmates YEAR OF DESOLATION, Athens, Ohio’s SKELETONWITCH have just been confirmed as a support act on an upcoming tour in late January alongside Job For A Cowboy and The Red Chord. Already touring heavily throughout 2007 in support of the band’s Prosthetic Records debut, ‘Beyond The Permafrost,’ SKELETONWITCH has already shared time on the road with Withered, Nachtmystium, Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust, as well as Dying Fetus and Cephalic Carnage.

Featuring artwork from John Baizley (Baroness, Pig Destroyer Darkest Hour), ‘Beyond The Permafrost‘ was recorded earlier this year with producer Cory Smoot (Municipal Waste, GWAR) and features a handful of brand new SKELETONWITCH songs alongside a few songs that previously appeared on the self-released Skeletonwitch records ‘Worship The Witch‘ and ‘At One With The Shadows.’ Clips are available online here (http://www.myspace.com/skeletonwitch).

Skeletonwhitch, out of Athens, Ohio bring thrash, death and black metal into one giant heap of audio onslaught to your ears with their third release Beyond the Permafrost on Prosthetic Records.

Originally released on October 2, 2007, Beyond The Permafrost brings technicality, speed and brutality to the table on a platter the size of a Texans belt buckle. Every song is a fury of guitars, every beat is a thunderous reminder that you don’t have to have the double bass through the entire song to make it in todays metal. Every word sung as if Satan himself was Chance Garnett’s vocal coach. With lyrics of the purist of evil almost “Slaytanic“, you can imagine with a name like Skeletonwitch they are not singing broken homes or life on the streets.

What I really like about this record is the engineering. Every part is mixed perfectly. Nothing overpowers anything else. It shows really good production.

Beyond The Permafrost get 4 stars.
