Ok, who’s heard this and what do you think of this 2 disc set of Century Media bands covering Century Media Bands? I like cover songs….done right, but I expected a lot more from this album. I think they might have been able to do better with an All Stars type go around or a 4 disc set like Nuclear Blast put out.
My first thought…some good some bad. Here are a few of the goods, bads and meh’s in my opinion.

I bought a cd that I had been looking for (I think it might have been Misfits Collection 1 or 2) and had a few more bucks to spare so I picked up a 6 song EP from a band that I had heard of but never heard. The name was Grave. How could you go wrong with a name like that. The name of the Ep was “And Here I Die…Satisfied“.

I was a Jesus hating metal-head back then so the song that first sold me totally on this band was “I Need You“, which sound considerably like Entombed’s Blood Song. Why did it sell me? Cool lyrics: ” Pray to your god, you pray as you spit red. Pray to your god, your god will fail and you will be dead…”. I mean, come on. For any metal head that find religion revolting and hypocritical, those are lyrics to live by. These days my views have changed but the song is still cool. The rest of the songs are cool as well.

The production on this CD is not too bad. The vocals are bright enough with just enough reverb and the guitars sound thick. The lyrical content is the usual death metal extravaganza of Satan and Death, but that’s what we love about the music right? Sometimes. Jorgen Sandstrom was on vocals and bass back then, but Ola Lingren is the only original member to date taking the duties of Vocals and guitar. Jorgen left the band and went on to play in Entombed from 1995-2004.

Grave were signed to Century Media back then but after 15 years and 7 albums with Century, they most recently signed with Regain Records and released Dominion VIII back in April.

Last year they reunited and went on tour and now they have signed a deal with Century Media. I may give them a listen sometime and see if their sound grows on me again, but I won’t be running off to buy tickets to a show.

In case anyone hasn’t read or heard it elsewhere, Tommy Cummings (Vexx) is singing for reunited Snot almost 10 years after the death of front-man Lynn Straight, who died in a car accident December 11, 1998. I liked Snot, but I liked a lot of Nu-Metal and I still don’t hate it today. But I really don;t know how they’re going to sound with Tommy Cummings, it just sounds like a weird mix to me..

I hate Firewind’s Premonition because I can’t stop listening to it! From beginning to end, I love this record. Even the bonus track cover of Michael Sembello’s Maniac. Somewhere Punky Brewster is rocking out to this song right now.
When I saw them perform on the Tyranny and Bloodshred tour earlier this month I wasn’t sure what to expect because I had only heard Mercenary Man when they played it on Headbangers Ball. If you dig good clean [...]
Post from: Metal Martyr

Here goes this guy hating another band that is really good. Well I have good reason.

If you dig good clean metal or Power Metal, than this is a band worth checking out. The band is simply amazing and great live performers and they were really cool after the show too. That’s when I picked up The Premonition and I’ve been looking for Allegiance and their other earlier cd’s with no luck. I guess have to order online. If you haven’t checked out Firewind yet, do so! I can’t believe I never heard of them before now.
