Hatebreed’s Chris Beattie Sends a Message to Fans
July 29, 2009 by Eric J
Chris Beattie, Hatebreed’s bassist, posted the following message regarding the upcoming “Decimation of the Nation” tour:
“The Hatebreed tour machine is back on the road this summer with our good friends in Chimaira to bring you the first leg of the Decimation Of The Nation Tour. You’re not going to find anything heavier than this tour in 2009, unless we’re on that too! Get there early and check out all the bands. There is enough mosh to go around! Bring your ass to the show and you will not be disappointed!”
We shall see, Chris… we shall see.

Chimaira: Destroy And Dominate Video
May 6, 2009 by Scott
I haven’t had a chance to watch this new video from Chimaira, as I’ve been trying to play catch-up on a few things after taking it easy yesterday. Anyway, here is Destroy And Dominate off of The Infection.

Chimaira’s Infection Spreading Like The Swine Flu
April 29, 2009 by Scott
Chimaira’s The Infection has done pretty well in it’s first week, selling around 15k copies and landing on the Billboard 200 charts at #30.
Sadly, Daath only sold around 1300 copies of The Concealers while lesser known band, Seventh Void did pretty well, selling about 1800.
Black Label Society did well with their Best of album, Skullage, selling about 4600 copies.
I really hope that Daath album catches on and takes off. I hate to beat off a dead horse, but this album is awesome.

2009: The First 100 Days
April 29, 2009 by Scott
So, 2009. I don’t even know where to begin. So far, so good as far as metal year goes. This is in no particular order so bare with me.
We got a new Lamb Of God album that I still think is not as good as everyone else thinks; and a new Mastodon album that is musically amazing but people seem to bitch about because it’s not heavy enough or something.
Cannibal Corpse release an album that is, well, another good Cannibal Corpse album. Nothing extravagant enough to go on a murder spree, but a good album. Cattle Decapitation almost convince me …read more
Reader Review: Chimaira – The Infection
April 23, 2009 by Scott
Here is a guest review of Chimaira’s The Infection from loyal Metal Martyr reader, Giles. (Thanks again Giles!)
Review: Chimaira – The Infection
This cd starts with my favorite track – The Venom Inside. At first listen, I thought it would just be a soft melodic intro, but it quickly transforms into a very heavy song. This is why I like Chimaira. Every song seems to have enormous weight. The next couple songs: Frozen in time, Coming Alive, Secrets of the Dead, and The Disappearing Sun are all pretty similar. They are very heavy, and have Great breakdowns. I …read more
New Metal Releases For 4/21/09
April 21, 2009 by Scott
There are a few anticipated albums coming out today, not to mention the opening of Iron Maiden’s Flight 666 in theaters. Unfortunately I live in “The Bible Belt” and I’m sure it won’t be playing in any theaters near me…ever. I’ll just have to wait a couple of months and get it when it hits DVD. I might have missed a few for today, but here’s what I have lsited.

Chimaira Post ‘Secrets Of The Dead’ On Myspace
March 3, 2009 by Scott
Chimaira has posted a new single from The Infection on Myspace. The track is called “Secrets Of The Dead” and it’s kind of got a mid-tempo thing going. It’s not full out, rip your face off type Chimaira and even has some lower, guttural vocal parts in it. You can also download this track on iTunes for the standard single price of $0.99. I actually enjoyed enough to buy it on iTunes, and I’m not a Chimaira fan. Maybe this will be the album that changes that.
