A lot of contests going on as of late. Here is a chance to win a 7″ vinyl from Black Tide, entitled Road Warriors. It contains two tracks, Warriors Of Time (Live) and their cover of Iron Maiden’s Prowler that has never been released.

Here is how you can win: Since the 7″ has an Iron Maiden “Cover” on it, let’s do this: Artist Derek Riggs has done countless artwork for Iron Maiden over the years. From tour flyers to posters to album covers, he’s been responsible for bringing Eddie to life in so many different ways. On every piece of his work he leaves his mark. For that average Maiden fan, we know what it looks like and have spent much time looking for it in every piece of Derek’s work. So here is a 3 part question that you must answer all of them correctly to win the prize:

Where on each of these covers can you find Derek Riggs’ “trademark symbol”?

1. Iron Maiden’s 1980 single cover for Sanctuary.

2 Iron Maidens 1980 single cover for Running Free.

3. Iron Maiden’s debut, self titled album cover.

Win "The Answer" Complete Discography

The Answer is a cool rock band out of Ireland that recently was on tour opening for the legendary AC/DC. If you’re not familiar with their music it’s kind of like The Black Crowes, AC/DC and Led Zeppelin all rolled in to one. Needless to say they have a great classic rock groove to them.

Here is a chance for one lucky winner to win their complete Discography to include their latest release, Everyday Demons and the unreleased Live At Planet Rock Xmas Party Featuring Paul Rodgers. 3 runner ups will receive the new album Everyday Demons.

How do you win? Since the bands name is “The Answer“, this is going to be a Jeopardy style contest where I will provide an “Answer” and you have to comment in the Jeopardy game show style of a question using the comment section. For example, I might say something simple like “Emo music” as the answer, and you would have to come up with something creative in the form of a question like “What is the musical genre God created to punish metal fans?“. I went to an awesome show last night, which I will elaborate more on a little later. Anyway Divine Heresy was there and Dino Cazareswas real cool about autographing cd’s at the merch booth before and after their set, so I had him autograph a brand new Bleed The Fifth cd to give away. Win A Meet And Greet With Cavalera Conspiracy

If you didn’t already know, Cavalera Conspiracy is embarking on a North America tour titled “Infliktour“. Along for the ride is Dillinger Escape plan, Throwdown, Bury Your Dead, and Incite. Soulflyweb.com is holding a contest where you can win ameet and greet with Max and Igor Cavalera at a show near you. This is what you have to do….they make you work for it, damn-it!

To participate, contestants must print off flyers for the show that they wish to attend and use them to promote the old-fashioned way. Contestants should post the flyers all over their city – staple them in buildings and on poles, pass them out after shows and to your friends, tape them on top of other signs, and do the best job at getting the word out in general. Do whatever it takes, because the person who does the most creative/best job for each gig will be selected to win!

Want Your Band Signed By Nuclear Blast?

Nuclear Blast And Myspace are searching the planet for Metal bands to sign. As reported by Revolvermag.com:

In a unique contest in collaboration with Nuclear Blast and MySpace, unsigned metal bands from around the world will have the opportunity to win a contract with one of the world’s leading labels for heavy music.

Interested bands should submit a MySpace band page link (make sure your band page has a biography and band picture) here. Your songs will then be listened to and judged by an international team of Nuclear Blast representatives.

Rules:
Band must be unsigned
Band should play metal
Absolutely no cover bands
Own your song material
No offensive material: fascism and racism will not be tolerated
No song material older than two years
Band’s music should be in the English language
Bands must be able to speak and communicate in English

The contest will run from May 5, 2008 to October 1, 2008. At the end of the contest, Nuclear Blast Records will select 10 finalists. Nuclear Blast will contact these bands, and then the grand prizewinner will be announced and will receive a worldwide record deal with the label. Runners-up will win a download contract (your band’s songs will be available for sale) at the Nuclear Blast Music Shop, the MP3 purchase platform of Nuclear Blast. Black Tide Contest Winner

I almost forgot about this. There wasn’t many entries in the contest so everyone chances of winning were pretty good. So without further delay the winner is fellow b5 blogger Trench Reynolds. Metal Martyr Vol. 2 Compilation Coming Soon…Update.

As I said last month, I’m working on the next compilation. So far there are 3 takers and 1 to the cover art winner so that leaves 6 left.

This will be a two disk compilation. Disk 1 will have 17 songs from the last 5 years but mostly newer stuff from the past 2 years. Disk two will have 16 killer classics. I always start off with some test disks that I play in my car on my way to work to see if it’s a good mix. Sometimes I go back and change a song or 2. Once I have a winner for the Cover Art iPod Contest I will start mailing them out.

If there is anyone else that wants one shoot me an e-mail with name and address. Once I announce the winner of the contest and post the cover art I will mail them out.

Name That Metal Album Cover!

This is going to be an every Saturday thing. Name the album cover by viewing just a wee chunk of it. What do you win? Nothing now but if your consistent at it later on down the road we’ll have a really hard one and the winner will win something cool. Lets see how it goes for now.
