As most of you know, since I started writing for this blog I have expanded the range of metal that I listen to. I try to open my mind and see what else is out there constantly. Sometimes It takes me a few times listening to a specific sub-genre or band for me to get into them. Two bands that I tried to get into before but just couldn’t because I was deep into something else at the time are Children Of Bodom and Dimmu Borgir.

Dimmu Borgir I have started to like in the last few months but tonight is the first time I bought one of their CDs. I bought In Sorte Diaboli tonight. FYE only had two CDs of Dimmu, Sorte and another one I wasn’t interested enough to remember the title. This one was suggested to me and I already like The Serpentine Offering anyway so I figured it was a good start. So far I’m diggin it. No complaints.

As far as Children Of Bodom go, I have really been liking the new songs I’ve heard online and I have heard a lot of people talk about Hate Crew Deathroll so I picked that one up. It took me a little time to get into the vocal style of bands like COB and I like the music. I’m not a huge keyboard fan but something about C.O.B. makes me like the way it blends well with the rest of the band. So far I’m diggin this a bit more than the Dimmu right now.

I tried looking for an Immortal CD but F.Y.E. is very limited and they didn’t have any. I sampled a bit of Darkthrone and wasn’t really impressed right off the bat but I’ll give it a second listen. I gave the new Death Angel and Kingdom Of Sorrow (Sounds like a slowed down Hatebreed) a quick listen and it sounded cool but I was more interested in the Dimmu Borgir and C.O.B. and I didn’t feel like spending too much cash at the “Sell-out” cd store (WTF Ever). So I’m gonna kick back for the rest of the night, drink some Heineken Lights (gotta watch the waist-line) and maybe even play some Guitar Hero if I feel up to it and see if I can stay awake long enough to check out Talking Metal on fuse.
